The majority of America does not want their government in chaos. Trump and his social media posts, the last Trump administration, and the current house drama all represent chaos….
That needs to change if MAGA is going to be successful.
Biden, as dumb as he is, represents more stability to the average American than the Republican Party does right now….and that is some shit

Precisely what is wrong with the party. Business as usual, is a functioning government of which the house, led by the majority, plays a key role. The self-indulgent idiots in my party can't even manage that for the American people.

As @Mekaniks clearly stated, we are even giving Biden cover. Can't make it up.

Every single democrat joined Gaetz in ousting McCarthy. Just think about that a moment. What a great MAGA moment.

Im not necessarily a McCarthy fan.. I freely admit I am pretty far right of center on most social and almost all fiscal issues.. and McCarthy isnt "right" enough for my tastes..

That said.. Gaetz is operating at the tactical level, and clearly has little to no understanding of how to manage at the strategic..

winning a battle, only to lose a war is simply stupid...

who exactly does he think is going to replace McCarthy? and how does he think that person assumes the seat.. he was only able to oust McCarthy because the democrats (to include every single one of them on the extreme left like AOC, Omar, etc) thought his idea was a good one... MOST republicans ARE NOT in agreement with him (as clearly demonstrated by their votes.. only 8 voted with him)...

does he really think Patrick McHenry is a good replacement for the interim while we are in the middle of the budget/CR battle?

IF (huge IF) Trump manages to take back the white house in a year.. AND (huge AND) another 6-10 seats in the house turn red... AND (another huge AND) the senate flips red... then MAYBE 4 years will be enough time to undo the damage that is very likely going to be done over the next 14 months..

But if any one of those three things doesnt happen (which I would bet is the much more likely result).. we're about to be in for an extremely bumpy ride.. God help us if 2 of those 3 things dont happen.. (even more likely result)....

Actually the seat would remain empty until a special election was held. Governors can only appoint replacements for senators.

From her bio, she's basically a professional political activist at large, moving to wherever the next political gig is located. She lived in California from 2009 to 2021. In 2018 Jerry Brown appointed her as a Regent of the University of California. She moved to Maryland in 2021 because her new job with Emily's List was DC based.

A greater concern is she's clearly a part of the California Democrat machine. An ally of Kamala Harris since Harris's 2010 run for CA AG and allegedly played a central role in Harris' presidential bid. Nightmare scenario: Biden retires/dies and President Harris appoints her old supporter Butler as VP.

At least that'd be a team with some entertaining nicknames.......

I think the ouster timing is lousy and I have to wonder what they really hope to accomplish with this move.
I confess I am mystified by it. Just booting McCarthy now, isnt going to somehow take us back a week to shut down the govt, it only leaves us adrift without a Speaker and everything else gets put on hold until they find another one. Stupid in my view.

All they did is introduce more chaos to an already chaotic House.

The naivety of this meme is almost mind boggling. No one is going to shut down the government for more than length of time it takes the news media to start posting stories about service members unable to pay their rent, national parks closing, and key agencies suspending services. No deals will be cut about the border. The only thing that will happen is that the Republican party will be blamed for the ensuing chaos. We can absolutely be expected to pay the price for such a stunt next November, further setting back our chances to make any meaningful change.

Timing matters however…

Biting off your own nose to spite your face is never the smart move…

Again… this move at this time lacks any strategy that would provide benefit or greater good to occur…

Wanna kill McCarthy as speaker? I’m cool with it.. like I said before… I’m not a fan…

But do it in a manner and at a time that makes sense and provides value…

Doing it at a time and in a manner that does greater harm.. because it’s the easy or expedient path…

Well.. that got the left Roe v Wade… which they thought was awesome short term…

But bit them in the ass long term…

And all of their great strategic minds at the time, to include Ruth Bader Ginsberg told them it was the wrong move at the wrong time and that it would ultimately bite them in the ass…

McCarthy being sent packing today is an expedient, tactical solution to a much greater problem that requires a longer term strategic action…

And that short term tactical solution comes with a huge amount of risk… to the American people at large

Swamp or no swamp, if the Republicans can't elect someone as Speaker who appeals to the ENTIRETY of his party, the Republican party is doomed. I didn't really care for McCarthy, but who now? I'm not sure they agreed, but what is the line from Art of War, never stop your enemy when they are making a mistake. This is a mistake and they better get a speaker on the first round and better avoid a shutdown, they dont have the leverage or power to make demands.

She's become like my former representative Madison Cawthorn who was her BFF. She loves the perks of the job but avoids the hard work. I can't speak for Boebert's record of constituent service in her district but Cawthorn's sucked.

I'd vote for George Santos. 13 count Federal indictment for fraud, money laundering, theft, etc., etc. Or maybe even Gaetz? Under investigation in 2021 for sexual misconduct, illicit drug use, shared inappropriate videos on the House floor, misused state ID records, converted campaign funds for personal use and accepted impermissible gifts under House rules. Either one as I love ANARCHY! McCarthy was too benign. LOL
