Well, when the rest of the globe goes to crap so do we. There is no such thing as an isolated, self sufficient USA in todays world. Commodities are all globally traded, we have a fraction of the manufacturing needed to support ourselves, I could go on. It sounds nice, but that ship sailed a long time ago.
Globalization worked well post WW2. That was a time when the US had the naval power to manage all of the major sea routes. Over the decades, we have changed to super carrier groups. We aren’t in the same position. I don’t have a crystal ball, but it seems like Trump did a great job with NAFTA 2. I don’t see China being our primary trading partner in 20ish years. Mexico is already our new #1, Canada could be #2 for our potash needs. The US was smart when negotiating after the last world war. Unfortunately, that did lead to an offshoring of manufacturing jobs. I’m of the impression that we are transitioning back to manufacturing more in North America.

My point of view is just skewed off of recent history. I also like learning more about the global economy, so my research and listening to the opinions of other economists has influenced my opinion. I may be wrong based off of who I choose to read/listen.

You can blame it

Besides, red is the classic power color.

Contrarily, Blue is considered the basic power color- which is why most police departments wear it. Psychologists view it as a matter of wavelength- the shorter more numerous waves (BLUE) have more power than the longer less numerous waves (RED). But since to some, BLAMING is of utmost importance, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I would be interested in hearing Texans thoughts and opinions on the Paxton Impeachment/Acquital.

It was BS from the start. Pushed by the House Speaker (who can expect payback) when the AG called for him to resign as he appeared intoxicated on the house floor (which is automatic removal from office). Of course you have to prove he was intoxicated and not just appear intoxicated.

Also BS is the felony state securities charge, for which he will never be tried for, but used each election that he’s indicted for a felony.

Really? Need to check out why blue is never considered a power tie. Trump probably needs your guidance. I digress. I have no clue what you ar e trying to say with respect to getting excited over “BLAMING”?!? It is considered common word usage. What I did do is simply offer the generally accepted reason why the networks switched to red for the Republican Party. Good Lord, I am pretty confident anyone else reading this understood exactly what I meant.

Thanks!

As an outsider looking in, the impeachment seemed to be a charade.

I was surprised the Republican's in the Texas House voted to impeach with no evidence. Is the Republican Party in Texas as divided as it seems?

I was a bit on the fence when it came to Ukraine when the war first started. After it became clear the Ukrainians would fight for their country and that Russian military capability was greatly overestimated, then it became a situation of why not help push them over the edge of the cliff they seemed to want to go over anyway. In other words, yes we should support Ukraine in my opinion.

But I think I'd not share my opinion with this lady who has a valid point and a big set of balls!

I agree. The main problem is that no main stream media source will even question the WH about the lack of support for Maui. Too many of their big donors are licking their chops at the opportunity to buy cheap, Hawaiian property. Sad that it is off the deaths of thousands of innocents. Funny the Democrat mayor hid for nearly two weeks and wouldn’t take any accountability for his lack of action.

Anyone that’s done much boating knows about Red and Green buoys and the little saying, Red, Right, Returning. As much as I hate to say it, that could be a pretty good campaign slogan for Trump.

. . . Is the Republican Party in Texas as divided as it seems?

Yes it is. You have the ultra conservative (TEA party, religious right, etc) and moderate Republicans (called RINOS, by the above group) and the Country Club Republicans (also referred to as RINOS, which are fiscal conservatives and moderate on social issues.) However as fractured as it may seem, they all have a distaste for D’s.

Blame: per Webster, to hold responsible for a fault, error.
Words that would indicate the change from blue to red without derogatory implication include Thank, Credit, Resulted from, and others.

If she would just be honest about vaping cannabis, she would more likely come across as authentic and maybe even cool. This dodging tactic didn't play well for Bill Clinton, and doesn't play well for Boebert:

"Ms. Boebert, a mother of four boys who likes to show off pictures of her new grandchild to colleagues in Congress, said she “genuinely did not recall vaping that evening” when she told her campaign to issue a statement denying she had done so. She said she would have to work hard to earn back trust from voters in her district."

Has anyone been following Vivek’s policy theories? Being in the millennial crowd, I am leaning harder toward him now than I previously was. Originally, I would have been fine with DeSantis or even Trump. I’m almost to the point where I would put Vivek over both now. All of the no nonsense mindset of Trump with policy. He is also more controlled and doesn’t deal with the banter.
He's telling people what they want to hear. I think he's full of crapola.

Well, he sure SOUNDED intoxicated!

No evidence. Just a hunch. The guy is big tech, and I just dont trust him.
Ok, that is fair. I have not seen anything from a highly successful businessman, with zero political experience. I am much more skeptical of life-long politicians than an outsider. His views and history remind me much more of our most successful, Republican presidents. I prefer him far more than say Pence.

Pence reminds me of a generic version of Mitt Romney. We all know how Mitt faired in his race back in 2008.

Vivek is running on Trump narratives. The guy reminds me of Biden, who stated that he would run the most transparent administration in history, and unite the country.
The only thing Biden has united, is federal agencies against Trump and the rest of us. Transparency? Pffftt....Biden hides, and has his lesbian meat puppet lie to the world.

Thinking out loud here - Surprising to me, but at the end of the day Vivek just might be the most electable of the bunch. His foreign policy is 180 degrees incorrect, but that can be corrected and the tech-bro VC types are well known for "pivots". He has enough of the Trump narrative (without the personality defects) to endear the MAGA crowd; but also enough good domestic talking points and the "small town immigrant made good" aspect to endear the moderates (and maybe even bring along some 2nd generation immigrant liberal voters). Not to mention being an outsider from the swamp. Aside from Desantis, I can't think of another Republican candidate who really covers that much of the spectrum. If enough of the Republican party can rally behind a single candidate, recruit enough of the moderate middle-ground voters, and the DNC proffers a detestable enough candidate, there is a chance to take back the WH in 2024.

Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?
