I wonder of Barbarossa means anything to the Russians right about now.
My observation is that Putin at least has a very selective sense of history.

Muslims in one parable: there was a scorpion wanting to cross a flooded river. He asked the frog to take him across and was flatly turned down--"you'll sting me if I let you on my back," he said.
I WILL NOT, said the scorpion--I will instead be appreciative that you took mercy on me.
Well, all aboard, but half way across, the scorpion stung him!
"Why did you do that, " asked the scorpion. "You PROMISED NOT TO STING ME!"
I couldn't help it, said the scorpion--it's just my nature...
I meant to say, "the FROG said, why did you sting me"

Your gonna need more propane Ray! I had a 500 gallon tank
the 120 gallon tank is the largest that I can get without having to get a permit and a bunch of placement restrictions- so I have a 120 plus a 20 & 2 5s. the supplier fills the 120 and I run the small ones in to keep things topped-off. the resort that is behind us has a few large- possibly 1,000 gallon tanks but they are at least 50 feet from the nearest structure & are fenced. Back in the day at our business in rural California we had a 500 gallon tank with very little regulation- that was in the 50s/60s before the DemonRats took over the state.

Here at the ranch, we’ve got a 1000 gallon tank and a backup generator that will run everything, even the AC. Got preserved food and lots of ammo. Our kids say they will move back home when the $h/t hits the fan. Lol.

This is not a prediction or even a suggestion, but I can see things progressing to where California won't be involved in the decision to cut the lifelines to the state. Two things the population of California needs to support it's ever growing population of non-producers: Water & electricity. I've read where the water pulled from various sources has resulted in the water table in the mountain states several hundred feet. Electricity is being sent from Washington state to California that was derived from the Columbia River dams. When push comes to shove and resources become scarce, I can see the states cancelling their contracts and keeping the Water and Electricity for themselves. Then what will California do?

I bought a 1000 gal tank several years ago- one of the best decisions I ever made. I had a 750 gal tank for years. I can stretch the 1000 gal a long time if needed. The larger tank also allows for filling to catch price dips. And I can choose when to fill to avoid heavy snow or mud. Also have three 90 lb tanks and several smaller along with two portable heaters for the shop or for power outages.

Well…Merrick”milk toast”Garland has appointed a Special Counsel for Biden’s Classified Document Portfolio. Robert Hur …..from a DC Law Firm. Swamp?

Biden has served his purpose. Jill Biden is not going easily. This turns up the heat a few more degrees.
Getting both Trump (antiestablishment) and Biden (incompetent) out of the 2024 race are establishment goals.

Any relation to BEN?
You beat me to it! I think BEN was his great, great, grea........................................................t uncle? LOL

This is a bit of a long read but well worth it. I have no idea who the author is, but he writes in the terminology of US Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC). It is a really good summation of the unsolvable technical military quandary in which Russia finds itself. The fact that the author largely echoes what I have been trying to note is purely secondary and shared with only slight sanctimoniousness. :A Whistle:

What of the 500 Ukrainians reported killed in latest battle?

What of the 500 Ukrainians reported killed in latest battle?
You will have to be more specific. What latest battle and who reported it? Over what period of time?

Make no mistake the Ukrainians are taking casualties, particularly around Bakhmut and Soledar where the Wagner Group has been throwing its forces in essentially human wave assaults against the Ukrainian defense for over a month. I think every informed Western analyst with whom I am familiar would put the casualty exchange ratio at four to one if not double that.

This photo is from late December.

4-1 in whose favor?

I heard a bit on the news this morning saying Russia had killed 500 in a new offensive--maybe they were wrong or I didn't catch it right...

Under normal planning considerations, the attacking force should expect up to a 3 to 1 casualty ratio compared to the defender. Hence, when planning an attack, one attempts to generate a 3 to 1 combat power advantage. The Ukrainians seem to be doing far better in the defense than conventional planning.

There are numerous historical exceptions - The German attack in France in 1940 and the Coalition assault on Iraq in Desert Storm. The Russians are doing much much worse.

Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?
