Formula for world peace:
The Ukraine war has brought a lot into focus vis a vis the world and its peaceful future. Here are my takes for a recipe that may work:
1. Abandon and close down the UN. With the Security Council it is absolutely ineffective since the two main miscreants are on th SC and cannot be regulated. With that structure it has become a tacit approval mechanism for what they get up to. In any event the UN is little more than a liberal charity organisation and can be re-constituted as such if the liberals are willing to donate their own money.
2. Expand and strengthen NATO, and entrench in NATO'S constitution that it can never be used as a first-hit mechanism. In effect it then becomes the world's policeman that the UN was supposed to be.
3. Expand NATO's mandate to act against genocide, anywhere.
4. Expand NATO's mandate to act against territorial expansion of one nation against another.
5. Strengthen the ICC to actually prosecute rogue leaders and mandate that it does so.
6. Use the ICC as a dispute arbiter with real punitive teeth to not only try a problematic leader but to apply national sanctions.

I liked Top Gun: Maverick, but here's the thing. We're going to fly down a narrow canyon, we're going to rely on instinct instead of instruments, and to make this work we need to shoot at a target that's less than two meters wide. I think I saw that movie in 1977.
i know. And in a galaxy far far away.

hmmmm,

or the reason for next world war?

The UN was conceived with signature of 4 world powers, with intention to prevent any major conflicts in the future.
Those 4 powers at the time were: US, UK, USSR and China.

Removing the legacy of UN and giving peace keeping mandate to Nato could make Russia and China a bit nervous, wouldn't you think?

The UNs predecessor, the League of Nations, failed in this regard…and I’d maintain the UN has failed here as well… it hasn’t prevented formal or informal wars among its member nations… its failed to provide security to numerous member nations, etc…

What it has been wildly successful at is growing itself year over year, increasing its annual budget, increasing its personnel (it now has more than 40,000 employees) and sucking up billions upon billions of dollars each year to support globalist agendas and failed programs (the US alone paid more than $11b to the UN in 2021)…

FWIW I used to work for another of the Breton Woods agencies.. and worked closely with the UN for a few years… it is in my opinion nothing more than a self licking ice cream cone that is woefully inefficient and ineffective… it is even more poorly run and managed than most federal governments

In a real world scenario, I would take out the SAM sites at the same time as the airstrip.
Absolutely. And those SAMs would likely be active radar rather than heat seeking making the flares useless. I also have no idea who the chubby warrant is who follows him from assignment to assignment directing test flights and carrier recovery operations. Never said it was realistic - just a lot of fun.

On this one we agree.

There you go:

God Bless Texas!...
Sounds just like the hypocrites in Martha's Vineyard. So typical of commucrats. They blat and whine about human rights but when it comes to doing something, well, that's a different story.

When you have the now rogue nation of Russia still on the UN Security Council, that undermines any credibility the UN might have once had. Russia's military has committed THOUSANDS of documented intentional WAR CRIMES in Syria and now Ukraine and yet they're still calling the shots (blocking everything) on the Security Council. A complete UN failure and proof the UN is absolutely useless for what its primary reason for existing is.

Don't get me wrong, Top Gun 2 was very entertaining but, among other things in the script and direction, I too never figured out what the big warrant officer's job was. Seemed contrived and forced. Was it possibly woke contrived ?? Also, surely, in a movie this big, they hired military technical advisers to oversee the major details of reality. Much of the deviation could have been a case of them being overridden by the director or his assistants taking theatrical liberty or maybe even being told to do so by the producer ??

Also on a lighter note- IMO, the hairstylist assigned to Cruise overdid the black hair dye/thickener a little :)

Saw the same thing in Haiti. Oxygen is wasted on that lot.

Basically 5 permanent UN security council members are UK, US, France, China, and Russia.

The UN founder countries were UK, US, Russia and China. Practically the same. (see - Moscow declaration, four power declaration on general security, 1943)

Kick the Russia out, UN falls apart.
The military alliances then can kick in.
It is very dangerous situation, and the last time when military's alliances were running the global show, there was world war 2.

So this situation must be resolved as soon as possible by negotiations.

Morning Rob, Any feeling for how the 300 H&H shoots? How's the barrel condition?

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
To much to political shit, to little Africa :-)
