The Mannlicher-Schoenauer MCA in 9,3x64!

Proof marks from Proof House of Vienna 1968, metal parts like new, some minor dents in the stock.

ABSOLUTELY a beautiful rifle and a treasure to possess!
I had a 1910 M-Schoenhauer in 9,5x57 that I got from my late Uncle. He and my late father used to hunt with it in Rhodesia in the 1940 and 1950's. Unfortunately it was stolen during a home robbery in 1996....I would give my last remaining back tooth for a rifle like yours!!! ENJOY it and bring it to Africa soon....

Easy 9.3x64

I Have used a 458 wm as a backup/follow up rifle in the thickets rifle many times for buffalo and thats what its good for. But as the main hunting rifle i would take the 9.3x64 any day of the week. Your ph can do the backing up. I use my 318 wr, 8x68s or 300 win mag as my "buff hunting" rifles. Your 9.3x64 is plenty.

Well that is a conundrum, so take both but, if it were me, the 9.3 would probably get the most use.

The dealer offered a bunch of used Mannlicher-Schoenauers in different conditions, 8x60S, 8x68S, 9,3x62, 9,3x64 and a .458 Winchester Magnum.

The 8x60S was far the cheapest with 698 €, for the .458 Winchester Magnum he wanted 2500 € ...because it is the rarest, he sad.

I tok the 9,3x64 between and run....

Have you shot it yet..? It is probably a bit light for caliber....add a Pachmayr Decelerator and load up some ammo with 286 grain Swift A frames or Barnes TSX bullets and you are ready for Africa up to and buffalo included. Do not use RWS ammo or bullets...the bullets are crap..no matter what your german dealers say...they are crap...

A hunting buddy here in Norway use this round on moose....me think the 9,3x64 is equal to the .375H&H.....the 9,3x64 was killed by the outbreak of WW2....it is a round that should see more use in Africa..

I shot it not yet....

I want to hunt with this rifle, but I do not want to modify it in any way, not even the recoil pad.

And I am with you, this rifle deserves it to see Africa.

About reloading, I am the proud owner of eleven (11!) empty cases 9,3x64, made by RWS.

As far as I know, RWS is the only company offering 9,3x64 cartridges.

But I do not want to buy factory ammo to create reloadable cases....

I only got through four or five factory RWS before I quit shooting it in my 9.3x64.
It was way too hot for my Argentine action.

Paul...I had the same experience with some RWS ammo many years ago..... 375H&H with 300 grain Kegelspitz bullets....horribly overloaded, bolt sticked hard after each shot...I gave up after 4 rounds....and mind you, we were shooting in subzero temperatures... That ammo was plain downright dangerous...
