I'm looking for some bullets for my cartridge display boards. I need some .287s for the 280 Ross and 280 Flanged Nitro Express, and some .461s for the 461 #1 and #2 Gibbs.
I know beggars can't be choosers, but if possible I'd like 25 each of 2 different profiles. They'll be mounted right next to each other on the boards.
Feel free to PM if you can help me out
THANX
Curtis

I know the 461 Gibbs' eventually transitioned to jacketed bullets. I've never dealt with paper patched. Don't recall ever seeing one so I'm clueless.
I'd prefer the jacketed bullets, but if I have to try the paper patched I'll give it a go.

I don’t think you will have any luck finding the copper clad bullets of the correct design/ogive.
Your only option, and one I’d like to try myself, is to find a cast bullet with the correct shape and electro plate them with copper.
You could do this with a .458” cast bullet as the Gibbs bullets were actually .461”

I believe the correct bullet for tehe 461 Gibbs is a paper patched bullet. I have not heard of the 461 Gibbs being loaded with metal patched bullets.

I’ve looked too over the years, Curtis. Same for other oddballs like 318WR and 275HH. The easiest thing to do is make bullets.

Lee makes a sizing die for $50 with ram. You’ll need one in every size from the donor bullet size to your target size, in .003” increments. Example, if you want .287” bullets, I’m not sure if you can find anything smaller than .308”, so you’d need to turn them into .305s, 302s, 299s, 296s, 293s, 290s, 287, and then run it a second time on 287. So you’d need 7 sizing dies for $350 and a lot of patience.

The good news is you have access to a LOT of bullet choices in 308. The bad news is that much sizing is going to damage the exposed lead tips, so you’ll need to look for a bullet tolerant of that like a Speer hot core or a classic round nose 30-30 bullet.

The 461s could be made with only 3-4 sizing dies, working down 470NE or 470 Capstick bullets .474” or less to get what you need.

Hello, My wife and I hunted with Marius 2 years ago. He fit us into his schedule after a different outfitter "bailed" on us. He was always very good with communications and although we didn't end up meeting him personally, he called us multiple times during our hunt to make sure things were going well. We were very happy with him.
