This rifle was made around d 1910-1920 best I can figure.
They were know for making “lesser” British guns to send to India and South Africa. I would assume this one went to India in its early life.

I would listen to offers on this.

Why does it say Woodcock Hill, Benton, PA on the bottom of the rib??

I don’t know I would guess that is some kind of import stamp maybe?
Quick google search they specialize in kinda working man’s British guns.

Unfortunate as it detracts from the originality in my opinion. Still a very fine piece.

While it might be an issue for you personally, this would not detract from its value at all in this country. Rifles and shotguns imported for sale in this country by a firearms business will be marked.

Someone is missing out on really fine rifle. I have three 9.3x74R rifles and they are extremely useful in the Americas, Europe, and Africa. The claw bases and rings would represent a nearly two-grand investment alone.

Besides the $2k cost of the mounts. Is the time spent at the smiths.
