Illinois passes assault weapon ban

We are fighting bills in Oregon as well. Have to take a class to be able to get a permit to be able to buy a gun. The only problem is there is no class to take. They also have a 10 round mag ban in the same bill

Illinois will slowly exhaust the legal gun owner into submission. Sure, they will continue to pass draconian, unconstitutional gun laws. Sure, they will eventually wind their ways through the courts and get swatted down. Sure they will pass transfer taxes. Sure they will require FOID cards that are unconstitutional so they have a list of all gun owners.

In the end, everyone there will give up or give in because living your life a second away from being a felon while the courts rule on the next gun law’s constitutionality is no way to live life.

Having spent 25 yeas in the State of Illinois my advice is this: Always find a defensible position. A defensible position is a State other than Illinois. Living in Illinois is an unwinable game.

I lost $300,000 on my home in IL just for the privilege of leaving the State forever. Worth every penny. Get a chair before the music stops.

IMHO, Trudeau is just another authoritarian dictator just as Biden strives to be. The difference is, we have counterbalances here with a two party Congress and judicial reviews (i.e., Appeals and Supreme Court) AND a Constitution including the Bill of Rights, which prevents Biden or any other aspiring future dictator from going too far with their "agendas". Our Founding Fathers, including Benjamin Franklin who spent a lot of time in France to procure support for our Revolutionary War against England, saw the European model of Governance and didn't like what they saw. Thus, our Constitution was written is such a way that provides a balance between the executive, judicial and legislative branches of Government. It's by far from perfect, but is FAR and AWAY MUCH BETTER than what's going on north and south of the US right now.

What is the recourse for those that have them? Do they want you to register them or hand them over ? I had the same thing happen in NY, in 2014. And again this year more gun laws, So I finally relized that i had to move out of NY. Deep in Free America now
