Illinois passes assault weapon ban

A large number of ar15 style handguns. Threaded barrels are banned.
"Threaded barrels are banned". Darn. Well, the gangsters in Chicago will just have improvise with clamp on suppressors. LOL

If I were to find myself in harm's way in the USA, I seriously doubt it would be from any legal weapon or legal gun owner.

Postulating this without an in depth knowledge of the US system (ie indulging in wishful thinking o_O)

Wouldn't it be nice if the US Federal Government made a law that imposed mandatory jail time on State Governors and Legislators that imposed laws that were contrary to the US Constitution in circumstances where they knew, or should have known, that said laws were unconstitutional?

That would be nice, but a more "palatable" solution would be to defund (take Federal funding away) those cities, counties and states that pass laws counter to decisions already rendered by the US Supreme Court. Several states here are passing firearm laws that have already been ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court. They continue to do so without any consequences and leaving their law abiding citizenry in limbo until the laws make it through the courts and are injunctioned. I believe the now Republican controlled House could block funding for those states if they chose to do so.

With all the new laws I am really looking forward to see these Chicago numbers drop dramatically

At this point, if you still live in one of these commie states that tax 3/4 of your income and destroy your rights year after year, I'm kinda empty on sympathy. They didn't start this shit last month. It's the same thing I told a lefty lady when she complained about abortions being illegal in Alabama: "if the people where you live don't want you to kill babies, but baby killing is what you want to do, then go to a state like California where it is celebrated.".

Illinois is my home. I’ve lived in the same township (a six mile square) my whole life. I will not leave. This is no reason for me to leave. If I moved here for work or a woman it would be different. As much as I want to see the world, this will always be home and I dare anyone to try and displace me.

I think, hope, that this amendment to Bill C21 will die a stillbirth and take with it the Trudeau Liberal Gov't and all the WOKE Turdeau worshippers with it.
I also wish that but I live in real world Canada, I think bill C-21 will pass in some sort of way and things will will get worse. To many blind, brainwashed fools up here now.

Sad state our PM has made. If your a law abiding tax paying citizen.

Really good synopsis. It pains me that it is true because rural Canadians, especially the prairie province folks, are some of the finest red blooded Americans you'd ever meet. But their system of government allows totalitarian laws without representation as is evidenced by so many of Trudeau's strongarm policies that required no support from provincial voters. If Alberta, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan would like to become US States I'd be fine with that. We could use more conservative voters and cheap energy anyway.
If I could I would gladly agree to separate from the communist east Canada and escape Trudopeism and join you guys down south. Can BC be included? Something is needed, this new craziness is running rampant.

Maybe all the other Provinces should say goodbye to Ontario!

Cook County…Chicago has had the most strict gun laws anywhere in the USA….how has that worked out weekend after weekend. The new law was passed on Democrat votes in a Super majority House and Senate…three times more legislators north of I 80….Chicago and surrounding counties…than all other lawmakers downstate. 90 % of those northern lawmakers are Dems and I assure you not one own a firearm or have never been downstate and are challenged physically on walking on anything but concrete…their idea of the country setting is their two acre city park, watching Da Bears, the Bulls, or the Blackhawk….they want to be entertained, could not entertain themselves if their life depended on it, except maybe with their right hand. The Shooting in Highland Park last July 4 during the parade by a nut case kid with an AR 15 jump started this new law. Now for the facts…Highland Park banned the possession of Assault Rifles in 2014. So how did that ban work out for them? Would expect numerous Down state Law enforcement departments refuse to participate in the banning…a few Sheriffs have already stated so in writing to the public. Illinois is really a POS state under Democratic, corrupt control by Cook County Politics. Been in this state my whole life, 4 th generation born here. Illinois where the ex governors make your license plates

3 of last 5 governors of IL went to prison. The other 2 should have.

Lower credit rating than Romania. Mathematically IMPOSSIBLE for Illinois to be solvent. The annual budget of the State is $80 billion. The Pension shortfall for bribed state workers is between $150-$300 BILLION. Gov Rauner tried to stall the bleeding by making retired workers pay SOME of their healthcare expenses but it was shot down by the IL supreme court. The state is F'd permenantly on a math basis, but no one believes math. The situation is legally unfixable.

Let me translate what that means in the real world: My crappy little 3 bedroom ranch that was worth less than $600,000 (put $300k+ in improvements, sold it for about what i paid for it 15 years later) had a tax bill of $16,000. Of that tax bill, $8500 just was to service the benefit debts of ALREADY RETIRED Illinois teachers. Properties are in the toilet because why the hell would you buy a half million dollar home in IL that has the same monthly payment costs (mortgage, taxes, insurance) as a one million dollar home in FL, TX, or TN? Same payment, except in the latter cases you're paying down a mortgage and building equity, not servicing retired union worker debts that aren't solvent in any case.

Yeah. I don't work my whole year to service the debt on bribes made before I was born to people that never worked a day during my kid's tenure in their schools. That's how old the debt-promises are in the State of IL. In October, the last week of school before we moved, they read a book to my 6th grader about a homosexual boy that was really a girl princess on the inside. Educational money well spent.

I told a friend last night: Imagine you're a Polish Jew and its 1938. Get the F' out of Warsaw NOW.

The tyranny of the majority will ensure the demise of the State. Run. Sell. Move. Find a defensible position in another State.

The Illinois Supreme Court of 7 consists of 3 men, 4 women, all but 2 are from the North of I 80 corridor…Chicago area. All but 2 I believe are liberals, and as such probably will ignore the second amendment, being that it is irrelavent in today’s crime ridden society, as per their opinion. If we don’t like the law, let’s just make our interpretation of the law to our benefit, after all, we know what is best for the populace. The Court will rule. Governor Pritzker has stated that any law enforcement refusing to carry out the new law will be removed from their position. Interesting how that will work out with the County elected Sheriff.

Not everyone in Ontario is a brain dead Libiturd, look at me, I hate that we are all tarred with the same brush. However Ontario and east has the largest concentration of idiots in Canada! If the west separates can I bring my guns and live with guys? As it is I spend 6 months a year around the wonderful people of Arizona, I sure I would fit in!

It's the tyranny of the majority. It's not Ontario and BC even. Lets get very specific: It is Toronto and Vancouver politics discussed in a star chamber located in Ottawa.

I track the Alberta "States Rights" initiatives very closely. It will be very interesting to see it wind through the courts to determine how much independence a province has over their own destiny. If they win at the provincial level, I suspect the prairie provinces and the maritimes will soon follow thereafter. Quebec will love it too because they want to keep their culture more than anybody.

Yeah, good luck with trying to remove an elected County Sheriff for anything other than a criminal act. The Sheriffs' basically tell the State that they aren't going to actively pursue enforcing the new "unfunded" State mandated laws with their limited resources. Nevermind the laws are unconstitutional anyway as previously determined by the US Supreme Court. The Sheriffs' just ignore actively enforcing them. If the State wants the laws enforced, their State Patrol will have to enforce them. Good luck with that.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
