Not a very good analogy since we have no military presence in Austria.... A better example might be Germany where we do, as part of NATO. But there is a reason for that you might recall. Germany lost the war, the US didn't.

FWIW Germany does have a military presence inside the US.

The German Air Force Flying Training Center at Holloman Air Force Base has several hundred Luftwaffe airmen stationed there and a number of German Toranado fighter aircraft (I think about two dozen)

Its pretty common for foreign soldiers/airmen/sailors, etc to come to the US to attend training or special schools, etc.. You'd be amazed at how many foreign military officers come through our special operations training programs for example..

Whats uncommon about Holloman AFB is the German Air Force has set up permanent shop there (they have been there a long time.. maybe 30-40 years?).. they arent just filtering personnel through for training provided by the US Military. They have personnel actually assigned to Holloman at their training center as their actual duty station.

Its obviously much smaller scale than the bases and facilities we have established in Germany...

But, it does exist.. we have allowed a foreign government to establish a military post on US soil..

Putin has problems. He has two military fronts and is stuck on high center in one and has lost the second. He tries to push Americans from a position and gets a battalion completely annihilated. (200 dead, 300+ wounded) Putin didn't try to fight back and has tried not to acknowledge this. His air force and radar systems in Syria are destroyed. America has become a net exporter of petroleum products. Europe has another choice for petroleum. Oil prices are down. Putin's economy is hurting. The European NATO countries are contributing more per the treaty and have promised to be up to 2% by apx. 2022, so America will stay in NATO. Putin has problems. He just continues to act like a bully.

Iran contract was never a contract and never ratified by Congress. It was a piece of paper not signed by Iran, only Obama. It was never confirmed by the Senate so it was never valid. It will also be interesting over the next year or so to find out if anyone was bribed with the all that cash. Is that the reason politicians didn't want the Iran deal broken? Is that why Merkel was in America last week?

NAFTA is being legally changed since it became a way that other countries could by-pass US customs. ie: China ships manufactured goods into Canada and Mexico and avoid tariffs as products enters the USA. China then imposes 25% tariffs on US products trying to enter China. Working class American's are glad Trump is changing the contracts.

Kim is probably near nuclear weapon free. It seems his top 200 nuclear scientists are dead, plus much of his nuclear research. Whether the mountain was unstable and collapsed or something else happened to it he doesn't have much choice but to negotiate. Plus, the media wants you to believe that Kim controlled N. Korea. Did he really or was it the military establishment that controlled N. Korea and was Kim just the puppet. Amazing how care free and happy Kim seems today compared to the last few years. Wonder what happened to those military leaders.

I can see how this is disconcerting for our allies, with the experience you have had with American leaders since WWII. Trump though is really easy to read and it shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. Trump has said he will always put America first! He still believes in friends and allies but they will always come in second place to the American people. If you look at his decisions with the, "Make America Great Again", statement in mind, Trump is easy to read and easy to see his goals. Focus on that statement and don't get caught up in the tactics (noise of Trump and the press) and it will all make sense.

Many non-American's can't understand what so many American's see in Trump. Over the next six months, there will be many American's indicted or agree to a plea deal. This will include many of the former top people in the government. There has been much corruption going on in America the last 20 years that will start being uncovered. Many American's have known this is going on but have felt helpless to stop it. The Trump administration will show America and the world that justice is not something imposed only on the lower classes, but that the mighty and the leaders are subject to justice as well.

Maybe we should start a political corner in AH ?

That would be interesting. Could be fun but might incite dissension amongst a group of extraordinary gentlemen.

Trump is not cancelling deals he made. He is cancelling deals, or renegotiating deals that he didn't make, but in an effort to help our country.

Think of it this way. Our previous CEO's made bad deals that are bankrupting our country. We hired a new one. He is trying to undo all the previous bad deals. I don't see anything wrong with this. NAFTA is almost 25 years old, Paris accord was just a giant money redistribution scheme that was non binding on the 3rd world.

Obama bent over and kissed the asses of every anti-America country in the world. How people fall for the democrat narrative (remember the CNN and NBC's of the world have been caught colluding with the clinton campaign) of a russian bogeyman is beyond me.

NAFTA is/was a disaster for the U.S. Ross Perot said there would be a huge sucking sound of jobs and there was and it's still ongoing. Back when it was lobbied by the Heritage Foundation, they said it would lower illegal immigration from Mexico, lower drug smuggling and a increase jobs in the U.S., all pretty much proven wrong since the treaty was signed . Fact is a minority of corporations and wealthy individuals reaped the profits while good, high paying blue collar jobs and their accompanying tax base fled to Mexico. Basically, the American worker got F**Ked, the U.S. lost a big chunk of its tax base and the deficit has ballooned to pay for services promised before the exodus of jobs.

Well you guys beat me to it on the Trump and contract thing, but I would only add for those who don't quite get how our system works, understandable: much of what Trump has canceled, were things put in place by Obama under executive order or fiat and not as stated, voted on or ratified by Congress, thus can be removed just as easily as put in place, because they had no real substance to begin with. Live by the executive order and die by it. Same thing can happen to things Trump may put in place the same way, next Pres comes along and uses HIS pen to undo it. The way it works.
