I’m just curious about not owning guns on a hunting forum. Not that it can’t be done but I expect it’s more the exception than the rule.

In my mind the 2A is indeed a tool of equalisation, on two levels actually. It equalises between people, as in, no longer can the biggest, meanest, strongest person lord easily over his perhaps physically weaker relations. It is where the phrase “an armed society is a polite society” comes from. This is by necessity of course.

Secondly, as only governments are capable of pooling resources together on such a level to create standing armies that can do their bidding, having the right to bear arms for all others, neither belonging to government nor army/police, equalises the playing field somewhat too.
