Good Gun Deals This Week

That is elegant! All of that class and history plus accessories for the price of a new Ruger No. 1 with a fence post for a stock. If I was in the market for another bolt rifle I would be all over it.

I have one of these unrestored (MS 1903). Current factory ammo is way to hot for the factory open sights and for the rifle itself. Very difficult to open the bolt. You need to reload and slow the catridge down to how they were loaded when the gun was made.

Getting a peep sight or a scope mount is very expensive.

Beautiful rifles, but I have only used mine at the range.

CZ 550 416 Rigby, 99%
$1,500

But I already bought it immediately after listing based on price...

Damn, that's a nice deal if it's truly 99%. With the scope, too! Well done and congrats.

”Original British Military Enfield 1877 Mark II Martini -Henry rifle. Appears in original .577/450 caliber not converted to .303 as many were starting around 1880. The Enfield 1877 Martini-Henry is a Breach Load Single Shot rifle with a lever action. It has Brirish Proof marks and Mid Eastern such as Turkish or similar proof marks. Complete with full military stock, cleaning rod and steel butt plate. In average military and likely battle used - very good condition. Note; there are original Martini Henry cartridges also listed for this firearm. See link for more information.”

I was reading a post on the 577/450 a little while ago. I saw this listing and thought I would pass it on. I am not affiliated with this auction.

That one lasted longer than I thought it would.
30 minutes? lol. That was seriouslu a great buy for someone. I like that Peterlongo 30-06 under it, but my wife would kill me. We just spent a boatload of money fishing in Key West and I promised her a new (another) hay barn for her to store feed for her horses. :)

Nice Heym 88B.....9k...
I need to take a nap because it will be sold by the time I open my eyes!
Darn good buy! Must resist, must resist...

If it is still there, I may be able to protect you from yourself.
@ET1775 Thank you in advance. This is a good deal in what more experienced hunters than me consider an excellent all around chambering for a double rifle. This Heym 88B PH Model looks well cared for if, not almost new.

I have to admit that I have two Merkel 140 AE's that are being shipped from Holts in England. They include scoped .416 Rigby and .375 H&H rifles. I have enough dies, bullets, and brass for each cartridge so there won't he a scavenger hunt to load for them. I have none of those components for the 450-400 cartridge, unfortunately.

So, having a .416 Rigby double and the loading components for it on the way, logic tells me that I do not need a 450-400. But all my doubles will all be chambered for rimless cartridges, not rimless that one can drop into the chambers without having to push over the extractor pawls. Further, while being a perfectly adequate Merkel, it isn't a Heym. Someday I will do a side by side comparison of my Heym and Merkel doubles and not only list but rate the operational differences. Maybe there will be none that are noticeable. Then there is my upcoming trip to South Africa. Must avoid temptation...

Good luck to you and please, save me from an alluring act of fiscal irresponsibility!

@Mark A Ouellette you are very welcome. The chances of it being there by Monday when they open may be slim but I have called and left a message. I only learned about the rifle last evening. I will get a .470 or similar some day but for my first double a .450-400 will be very functional and Heym is the brand I have at the top of my list. Of course, someone on here may have already snatched it up, who knows.

If I am able to secure it I will
be on the hunt for dies and brass but I see a bit of it come around so shouldn't be too difficult.

I saw in another thread that you too are a Marine, Semper Fi!

I hunted elephant with Luke Samaris in 2005. It was my fourth safari and I tell you he is a fine gentleman the best. I got the opportunity to meet Patty Curtis, although never hunted with him but enjoyed our conversation around our tent in the Selous. Very sad for a tough guy to leave this world the way he did. Let’s pray the murderers are caught. I hope to see Luke in Nashville.
