Germany Hunting Pictures

Holy suspenders.
What is Croatia for a country!
A hunting buddy from Hamburg is actually there during the rut.
And a guest shot the best red deer of the season in this concession .
Sure ,it looks like a little bit feeded and my question how many meters did he worked for him -I got no answer.
Nevertheless a real hell of a Hirsch.
Croatia is an expensive country for hunting :S Welcome:
A lot of American hunters !! are spoiling the prices there.
You see where the money sits :)
240 international points
12,5 kg
€ 29.000.- o_O

and those things there aren't from bad parents either.

Bears are looking cute and sweet, mostly, but be sure they are the opposite of them.
Just wild, big animals. And this is, what the most forget.
In the little village, which belongs to our property, where I hunted red deer for a few weeks in the Karpathian mountains, there were in a maizefield of 5 ha eight ! 8 ! bears inside, to eat the corn for the hibernation.
Two people (one farmer, one shepherd) was mauled to crippels.
Here I got a pic of a bear-victim from Kamtschatka.
The other pics I have ,I won't do it public.
This is cruel enough.
Always take care in bear country.

There is no doubt Bears are dangerous game.

That is a nice Hirsch, Foxy, but for 29.000€ I can possibly hunt a hippo, sable and roan.

My choice is clear ;)

beneth Spain,I think France has the oldest hunting culture on the European continent.
Although a rider,Ive never been to a hunt by horse.
I regret this very much today.
A strange spoke has suffered so much separating, I have therefore never dared over with my horse to France.
But hounds, the horses and trompe de chasse are fascinating.

Foxi: Waidmannsdank! I love it working and hunting at Hohenfels. I run a training site that is about 500 meters from where I hunt, so during my lunch time, I can work on highseats and check the area. It cost to hunt here, but it is worth it. There are some mornings that I will see 100 to 200 Rotwild driving to my site; some mornings nothing. Depends on if I hit the grazing time. Since we had a mild winter, we will have a lot of Schwarzwild this season.
Waidmannsheil.
Though I've never hunted in Europe, I was brought up in that tradition.
All the best.

Darren,I know that wood pigeons are difficult to shoot.
But 7 shots for one pigeon................o_O

Haha.. I know I know. They weren't coming into my field very well so I was forced into taking some high crossing shots. I was cutting feathers, just not knocking birds down

Wood pigeon are shy, intelligent and put away a lot.
Your 2,7mm Waidmannsheil cartridge is a good choice for them .
I use this also until 3,25 mm (Gold Star).

€29,000 for that? Wow..

Well, I can try to explain this.

I am not sure what are the rules for pricing in other middle European countries, but in Croatia, it goes like this:
The trophies are scored as per CIC system.

According to this system, for red deer:
170 - 189.99 CIC points - bronze meal
190 - 209.99 CIC points - silver medal
210 CIC points and up - gold medal.

For comparison Croatian national record champion in the book - 261.81 CIC

then, it goes: 250 CIC points is extremely rear. 240 is very rear. 225 CIC is very very good and not easily hunted.

So, the trophy is valued by CIC points, and when deer has passed the minimum for gold medal score the price of each CIC point becomes more expensive.

Average pricing may vary slightly from case to case, but it goes like this:
170 CIC - 10.000 kn - 1.333 eur
180 CIC - 14.000 kn - 1.865 eur
190 CIC - 19.000 kn - 2.533 eur
200 CIC - 25.000 kn - 3.333 eur
210 CIC - 32.000 kn - 4.266 eur
220 CIC - 42.000 kn - 5.600 eur
230 CIC and more - 62.000 kn - 7.266 eur // each point above 230 is 5000 kn - 666 eur per point (10 points = 6.666 eur)

Red deer: trophy fee ONLY for 240 CIC in above photo: 7.266 (for gold medal) +6.666 (for additional 10 points) = 13.932 eur
There could be other expenses lodging, guide, special meals, observers, for which we do not know.

Anyway the difference in price is incredible. very good bronze medal deer (170 cic) goes for 1.333 eur, while 240 CIC gold medal stag goes for 13932 eur, ten time more. exponential encrease!

European wild boar, in photo below trophy red deer is in gold medal as well.
Average pricing, trophy fee only:
Gold medal 120 CIC or more, 10.300 kn - 1.373 eur (each point above value 800 kn - or 106.66 per each CIC)
Silver medal 115 - 119.99 CIC, 7.800 kn - 1040 eur
Bronze medal - 110 - 114.99 CIC, 5.800 kn - 773.3 eur

national champion is 149.25 CIC
This one to take for example, then would cost 1373 + 29.25 cic = 1373 + 3119 eur = 4492 eur.

again, we are speaking of only trophy fees, not about additional costs, guides, lodging or any other service which add to total cost.

However, we are here talking about extremely high book score trophies and their prices.
to which i do not agree, and in my opinion are really too high. But it is, how it is.

In my view, very nice red deer for trophy room in the level of 150-160 CIC, can be found for trophy fee between 7000 - 8000 kn (933 - 1066.7 eur), not accounted all other costs.

red doe, for example is 700 kn, 93 eur, not accounted all other costs.

In conclusion, the trophy fees grow exponentially with top CIC points, but for good hunt and thrill of the chase something can be found for every pocket.

For wild boar, driven hunt is very interesting, and very frequently cost can be agreed in lump sum to cover even the best and strongest trophies.

So, in Croatia, something can be found for every pocket. Its worth looking into, but a bit of research is important to know what to look for and in what price level: strongest gold medal trophy, bronze medal, medium strength of trophy, selection or management hunt, etc..

Thanks for the explanation. I knew trophy stags can be very pricey, but I had no clue European stags could get that expensive. In comparison, I have never met anyone who has payed more than €15k for a 1A class stag here in Germany, then again I only know a few people who have ever sprung for 1As. Most opt for 2B or 3B animals which are significantly smaller ( and cheaper ;)

Again, thank you for the rundown on hunts in Croatia. It is definitely on my bucket list to come and hunt there

Thank you for the tips Foxi! I like your decou spread. I didn't think they would be as challenging of a hunt since they are so plentiful and very easy to approach when & where you can't hunt them. Since 1 November in my revier they have become very scarce and don't want to come into the fields like they have been. The weather has been keeping me indoors this weekend but I will get back after them when the weather breaks.

There are other factors, for example annual govt concession fees in Croatia are very high, depending on habitat potential for certain species to develop to trophy size and their numbers. Red deer needs 8-10 years of protection and management to make its maximum in trophy size. So, thus the (local) price for top trophies.
I am not sure about this part in other countries managing the red deer, which then perhaps (?) can be offered on lower end of price.

In any case, regarding the big game hunt, medium size trophy is not too high in price, and it is more realistic for a blue collar working men.
Not only for red deer, but for other species as well.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.
