Finally got my W.J. Jeffery 8-bore shooting!

Hi Matt I have an 8 bore Boswell we have regulated a few 8 bore rifles. I have lots of loads and data and molds. We have a 8 bore preasure gun .
Welcome to the AH forums!

This is awesome ! Congratulations !
It is one truly beautiful rifle!

And shame on you, because you’ve given me another rifle type to chase for my collection !

@matt85 - Any chance of you making a short video of shooting the rifle?

With the loss of my youtube account, I wouldn't know how to post a video. Plus, it's far more interesting to shoot the gun than it is to watch someone else shoot it. Why not arrange an AH forum shoot and I'll bring the gun?

I’m definitely behind your idea of an AH shoot, but for those of us geographically challenged () a video of the 8-bore would also be appreciated :)

Great thread, as I said before great to see these Big guys going again.

I have a few Big Guy rounds in the collection thought folks here might like to see them ?

That is a very long 4-bore cartridge! Maybe a 4 or 4.25 inch?

Yes it is almost a Magnum 4 Bore, it measures just under 4.25in, I just missed a empty packet of this type of cartridge a while back, broke my heart !

I think I've got it!

I did some more shooting today and tried some different charges under a 1200gr bullet. I also fired a couple balls but didn't have any luck with those.

Here is the first two shots at about 50 yards, this was 68gr of Blue Dot. While it looks good, the shots actually crossed. The left impact is from the right barrel and the right impact is from the left (n).

Now here is the winner, 67gr put the shots right where I want them! :A Banana:

Might try 67.5gr but I'm pretty happy with that 67gr load for regulation. Now I need to send a few across the chronograph to figure out how fast these monster pills are traveling.

Congratulations on your success so far.:D Barman:
Do you have plans to move up in the future and get a heavy rifle?:giggle:

Once I get tired of this squirrel gun, I'll start looking into properly large rifles.

A bit of bad news, I just tried to put two cartridges across the chronograph and my Lab Radar just simply isn't able to pick them up. I think it might be the fiber particles from the wads creating a screen, preventing the radar from picking up the bullet. There is quite a large amount of fiber thrown into the air for a long distance.

@K E Johnson
Do you mean something like a shoulder mount 20mm or a 105mm howitzer.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha
