Here’s my only quarter-bore. I found this South Carolina built M70 in .25-06 unfired in the box a few months back. The Sightron Sii 3-9x42, dual dovetails, and Garand sling came from my “box of stuff” and make a nice setup. I finally found some 100gr TTSX, and plan on developing a load for whitetail and varmints.

.257 Wby barrel for my R8.

@Bob Nelson 35Whelen has one hell of a .25 caliber. He should be along shortly.

My next R8 barrel will be a 257WBY for everything that doesn't need a 375H&H.

@Red Leg - do you know the twist rate on your 257WBY barrel?

There are only 2 real hunting calibers. They are foe people with fine taste and an understanding of hunting. All other calibers are so ho-hum.
Those two are the 25 calibers and the 35 calibers. 95%of hunting can be done with just those 2.
The 25-06 is a great round and loaded with a 100gn ttsx @3,400 fps you have a fine and dandy 400 yard plus deer rifle sighted in about 2 inches high at 100 and your spot on again out a bit past 300 and down less than a foot at 400..
For smaller game a 100gn speer 100gn spbt or 100 gn nosler balistic tip will be fine.

I stumbled upon a RSA built Vector 25-06 a few years ago for $500 USD at an auction a few years ago, built on a 98 Mauser action, timney trigger and Redfield 3x9 scope. My son took a nice Mule buck at 350 yards a year ago. One shot through the heart. I hope to take it on a pronghorn hunt in southern Alberta this fall if I get drawn.

I took a Montana pronghorn some years ago with a Remington 700 Classic in .257 at something pushing 300 yards. Load was 115gr Nosler Ballistic Tip with a full charge of powder I dont remember which one, did the job.

Have had several old Win lever guns in both 32-20 and 25-20. Currently zip. They are fun little plinkers. I've had at least one 270 Win for so long, never even considered the need for one of the ever popular 25 calibers like 25-06, 257 Roberts, 250-3000 or 257 Weatherby. If I wanted or needed a long range coyote popper I would have kept my long range dedicated 243 Win for that. If I need a general deer/antelope gun, the 270 Win has proven to be nearly perfect. So a 25 cal? eh ~~~

I have a weakness for one of the earliest .25 calibers, the .250-3000 Savage, so named because of its ability to attain 3000 fps with 87 grain bullets. Hell on varmints, too.
@xausa
Some of my best shooting memories are with an old 25/303 on an SMLE action that was very similar in performance to the old 250 Savage. It was a great old cartridge. Fast forward 30 odd years and that same cartridge I redesigned to my own version of the 25/303. This boosted its capacity by about 24% & gave it a real set of balls. 100gn TTSX at 3,600 plus fps with amazing accuracy

Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent customer service. Ordered some 9.3x62 brass and the delivery was a little short. An email through your website Contact Us link was replied to the next day with the tracking info for the correction. Good pricing coupled with great customer service will see returning customers every time. Thanks again!
