Unfortunately, folks living in urban centers generally sway the sentiment around guns, because that is all it is. It's like stopping the grizzly hunt in BC because it is "no longer socially acceptable".

I actually have both citizenships but grew up on a farm in Canada. I can assure you, living in the US now, there is absolutely no way I’m moving back. In Canada, owning a gun is a privilege granted by the government. In the US, it is a God given right not to be infringed upon by the government.

I plan to seriously look into becoming an amirican citizen after father passes, he is the only thing keeping me here now. I'm sure there are job openings in the marine service industry in any number of states Alaska and Maine are both candidates. It pains me to think one would have to leave an ancestral home to maintain freedoms.
I truely believe the root of the problem is that we as a country we're never forced to fight for our sovereignty, our forefathers were politicians not fighting men. Add to that the open door policy for immigrants and we've lost our Canadian identity.

With all the tyranny comments and fear mongering aside, let's just keep it REALLY simple. Let's look at some facts.

This is going to cost US, (YOU AND ME, THE CANADIAN TAXPAYER) hundreds of millions of dollars. (We all know it will actually be billions)

Now, please bear in mind that the liberals bill C68 (long gun registry) they said would cost 2 million dollars to implement, and it cost more than 2 BILLION!!! Do you have ANY idea what a HUGE discrepancy that is??? I'll put it into perspective with time.

2 BILLION seconds = 63 1/2 YEARS!!!

Yes, years!! So, now we have an idea of how this government handled OUR money. And C68 did absolutely NOTHING to increase public safety. NOTHING! Is this going to be any different?

The vast majority of ALL firearms crime is caused by currently illegal firearms. So, for the 10% of legally owned firearms that are used for ANY type of crime, is this truly money well spent?

Now, even 10% may seem high, but 70-90% of these crimes are committed by something other than so called "assault rifles". So, realistically, the true numbers are miniscule.

Now, that being said, even one life lost to such senselessness is too many. The life of a loved one is priceless. But honestly, where does it end? The truth is that the banning of these firearms it's going to make virtually no difference statistically. Where could money be spent that would impact a far greater difference??

How about banning any vehicle capable of exceeding 120km/h? That would save MANY more lives. Perhaps we could ban all off road vehicles? Maybe all sports? A 10:00 pm mandatory curfew? How about making alcohol illegal. If we got rid of alcohol, an absolutely astounding amount of lives could be saved. How many people would be accepting of these things?

The bottom line, is that this is going to come at a HUGE expense to the Canadian taxpayers, in a country that is so far in debt from mismanagement and misappropriated spending that we may never see the end of it. And for what? It's certainly not in the interest of public safety. Anyone who says that it is either says it out of ignorance because they haven't educated themselves on the facts, or they are being deceptive. Which do you think is the case of our government?

I find this very concerning, not only as a firearms owner, but also as a Canadian citizen. Why would our government be trying to take away firearms people if there is no true benefit to us for doing so? That's a very frightening thing to have to consider. And, when you look at history, the honest truth of it is that it is quite horrifying!

Firearms owners or not, ALL Canadians should be concerned and oppose this. And not just Canadians. Anyone living in a democracy should be opposed to this. This is not a true democracy. At least not the democracy our forefathers fought so hard for us to have.

Just watch how other countries follow Australia, New Zealand, and now Canada’s banning of certain firearms.

Trust me when I say that as an American I feel truly horrified about what has gone on and what I have learned just in this thread.

I don't condone violence but I have to wonder what it would take in the form of a unified resistance to make them back down.
