Bird Hunting Pictures

Here's my season so far in North Dakota, it's just starting to ramp up here. Finally, we are getting some cold weather to get the birds moving.

Here is a Female & Male Paradise Ducks shot with a 8ga Tolley using BP loads, great fun it was to .

Another pair of Hens Parrie & Mallard, this time with my A&N 12ga Paradox.

Those slips are way cool and could be handed down as heirlooms.
Always wanted to do a combo bird hunt and big game combo in New Zealand, just so I could bring home a pair of Parries.
(That’s what I’m gonna call them now, just because it sounds awesome!)

Especially if you had one made for each gun dog

For sure-get a cool picture with the dogs name under the picture. Get a new slip each time one of the legends passes on, keeps those stories alive. I love it

Should be very possible just a bit later in the hunting year so the Bird season is open, saying that some districts are open or have longer seasons on problem Ducks & I think Greater Canadians are all year now ?

Yep ALL Geese are listed same as Sparrows & just off Pest bird now.

Oh not sure on Cape Barren Geese, would need to check that one.

I was incorrect. The dog pictures above are done with a technique called pyrography.

Conservation goose hunt in NY 2024. Eight banded birds total. Three on opening day and five a few days later that all came into our field...but didn't leave.

First time I've hunted Ellie since her ACL surgery last fall. She did fine till we got home. She can hardly place any weight on the other hind leg. Probably tore the other ACL. Not unexpected. Sigh. But she had a great time.

French Brittany "Puppy" enjoying "riding the bike." When she's real happy, she rolls on her back and kicks her feet in the air like riding a bike. Never ending energy for a thirteen year-old cancer survivor.

End of shooting hours.

Buffleheads are cool little divers-they also make great mounts, if done well, there is no bad pose for a bufflehead!

I love bufflehead as well, we used to see a ton down here on the gulf coast but they have disappeared over the last few years. I think a lot of silt has choked out their food. Lots of development on the Bon Secour river that feeds the bay.

I was scrolling through this thread and saw mention of Bon Secour and thought, “I know that place!”. My mother is from Stockton, Alabama- up the road from you. If you’re familiar with Bryant’s Landing on the Tensaw River, that was her family.

We have a lot around in certain places and I always enjoy a big water diver shoot. This season was kind of weird for me on my inland sea with tough hunting. That is getting ice bound as we speak, so I'll move to the salt water for a week in November. Good times for sure.

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.
