Best Looking Safari Shirt?

If you don't mind the logo printed on the front, the Dallas Safari Club has a nice line of hunting shirts.

The Question was "Best Looking Safari Shirt?" Not the most practical

Hands down the perfect hunting shirt I've found is: BOB ALLEN MESH BACK SHOOTING SHIRT
No pocket 100% breathable light cotton shooting patch

That's they have the Bob Allen shooting shirts (hard to find) Thank you ordering now! Yippee!!

Carhart makes short and long sleeve olive, tan and light green.
I do like the mesh backs of the Boyt but Carharts are durable.

Multiple challenges for me...

  1. LH shooter (almost all shirts have a pocket over left breast; or no pockets at all; and I don't think i've ever seen one with a left shoulder patch anyway)
  2. 6'6" and 240#. Almost nothing off the rack fits me except jeans, and then mostly western cut (definitely cool with that). If the sleeves are long enough, the rest of the shirt fits me like a sock on a rooster. It would seem they cut the "big and tall" stuff for guys with far more ample waistlines than my 38". Even pants which come unhemmed rarely have sufficient length for my inseam, which is also 38". Buying something other than pants with a "Wrangler" label in the appropriate inseam usually turns into a snipe hunt.
  3. Narrow feet - 14A or 13B, depending on the cut.
I could wear 8-10" boots (Danner and a couple others do make narrow boots) and blouse my pants, but then I look like a fargling soldier-wannabe.

Aaah...The challenges of being "big" without being HUGE.

After reading the replies what makes the shirt “Hollywood”? Is it the 4 pockets and leather? I’ve never been to Africa so cut alittle slack. Also as a lefty, I appreciate the mentions about the shoulder rest, wasn’t even thinking of that and will consider that for future!

Gee fella, things are tough all over right? The upside is of course, you don't get too many yahoos trying to take your hat off your head do ya?! LOL.:D:eek:

Now this is going to stay with me all day, certainly the next time I shop for a shirt!

If someone takes offense to my safari shirt like at the PETA rally, I just shed it and strip down to my tee shirt.

Columbia PFG light weight , comfortable.
My brother wore his tan one on the day he hunted Eland and his PH told him we would have to crawl a lot and stay in thick cover since he decided to wear a white shirt, LMAO:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I got that once too in Zim. I wore a light tan shirt one day, and next day PH told me to not wear that shirt, too light!

The useless belt around the middle pure Hollywood
Four pockets and smooth leather patch that a rifle butt may slide around on.

Filson used to have a nice shooting shirt and you could order it with a left handed cloth patch. Just looked and that's gone.

Over some dark t-shirt I usually wear either a canvas long sleeved shirt from Cabela's in olive green (sleeves usually rolled up) or a dark brown short sleeved Duluth Trading canvas work shirt. Simple, practical, respectable looking without being over the top steriotypical "Hollywood".

Hollywood, as in it looks like what Stuart Granger or Clark Gable would wear in a movie like Mogambo.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
