Anti Poaching Pictures

It's a never ending battle.

Yes you are very right Simon, the goal is to minimise the poaching activity as much as possible, 63 wire snares collected around a waterhole here in South Luangwa Valley.

Too true Mike.

We decide to step up and will start with drone surveillance on Mbizi, the only problem I see that the battery capacity for example on the Phantom 4 pro is only 25 minutes flying, so the range of the drone is very limited to 4 km, and then it's have to return back so it will only cover 2 km out + 2 km back... Or if a poacher is spotted but because of low battery level the drone must return back. Do anyone know some other drone with higher battery capacity, but in the same time not priced as a H&H double rifle ?

The "eye in the sky" is a great help, you will notice the difference it makes. Have you looked at http://www.delair-tech.com they are possibly what you are looking for.

I've got a Mavic Pro which is also right around 25 minutes- about the best you'll get on an entry level drone. Easiest solution is to just buy more batteries. I've got four, so almost 100 minutes of flight time (and a car charger so that I can keep recharging while driving around).

You could consider upgrading to the DJI Matrice 600. Its a more customizable drone- if configured to maximize flight time, you can get up to 35+ minutes of flight time. Not sure if its worth the extra cost ($4599 USD vs. $999 USD for the mavic) and hassle of dealing with a more "professional" level device that requires extensive programing.

Here's a link:

Best solution- buy 4 mavics and a bunch of batteries. Have your anti-poaching team send them out in cloverleaf search patterns and then chase down your poachers!

Thanks Rinehart, that can be the best solution. Also thanks Arturo I was send a mail now to Del Air Tech for a price quotation from them also...

The nice thing with any DJI products is that they are super easy to use. I learned to fly mine effectively within minutes of taking off for the first time- and you can hook up any smart phone to them to get the live HD video.

The mavic is particularly handy because of how it folds up. You can easily fit it in a small bag or even a cargo pocket (perhaps a bit awkwardly).

Mike, see if you can find a surplus one of these babies.

Is this just your area Pete?
Yep, these are recoveries from our anti poaching activities in and around the national park and game management area for last year.
Note only 1 ele poached and ivory recovered before the poacher could get it out.
In fact, the poacher was so happy after shooting the ele he went to party in a nearby village and within a few hours was so drunk he was bragging about his exploits in the national park. Our intelligence unit were tipped off and in a few hours he had been picked up and was guiding the scouts through the park to where the ele fell...

Keep up the good work.

I am surprised all the firearms you have found.

Funny story about the elephant poacher. Most criminals seem to fall > 1/2 SD below the mean when it comes to intelligence. This guy may be an overachiever, or would it be an underachiever.:D

What ever it is great job on the anti poaching(y)

Glad to hear you got the guy. Stories like this really highlight the importance of funding anti poaching operations

Do you have any cull hunts available? 7 days, daily rate plus per animal price?
