About to go on Cape buffalo hunt, guns and calibers?

Why hell that is the big time! You have to take a 375 on that hunt! And you best take it seriously young man, that is a very special opportunity!!! If you shoot the aforementioned gun well, you "have" to have that gun for this hunt. Seriously!
And if I may ask, what burning safaris take you to your hunting destination. Because chifuti is really pricey, but all safaris are. Just for future hunts

I've written reports on each. Look them up in reports section. Largely depends on your goals.. clearly define those goals for your future endeavors and you will find lots of help on this site.

I'm going with chifuti safaris in the Zambezi valley, Zimbabwe
Aleksandar,

I hunted Buffalo, PG and did tiger fishing with Chifuti in September 2011. Ann went with me and had a great time. We were at Mwanje camp along the Zambezi river in Chewore North. PM me if you want to chat in more detail. I took a buffalo, bushbuck, impala and kudu. And, of course, Ann caught the biggest tiger fish!

John

I plan on going in the summer, such as July. I am planning on going to Zimbabwe. What calibers do you hunt dangerous game with?
Welcome,
but we have almost June and you decide to go in July to hunt DG in Zimb.
And now,4-6 weeks before, you ask for a gun......in an other post you want a .600
A super plan.
I think you are not a troll ,but you are a dreamer .
I won't jump over your stick .

ill admit, I'm a youth when it comes down to big hunts like this, I have never experience whatsoever. Plus, my great FRIEND booked this trip, not me. I do not know everything in full detail

Hey guys...I just wanted to tell you the truth and please read the passage entirely.
I actually, am a 15 year old boy who, and my family hunts. We originated in Serbia, but came to southern Illinois when I was born. I actually just took my first two deer this year I believe with a 20 gauge savage 220 slug. My dad has killed many more deer than me, he is an expire fed whitetail deer hunter. Other family members of mine have hunted bigger game such as elk and other animals. I've been trying to persuade my father into taking us to a hunting safari to hunt dangerous game. He believes that we can do it, but does not believe that African hunting is, "good" when compared to North American. I came and visited this website for you experienced African hunters, to tell my dad which guns, and where to go for a safari hunt. PLEASE, give me and my dad a couple of reasons to go to Africa to hunt, it's truly a hunting dream of mine. Thank you all, and my apologies...,

And please, can you recommend cheap and affordable hunting safaris in Zimbabwe? THANK YOU!

Hello

I think you and your father should spend some time on here and get a feel for it. Worst case scenario is that you will learn a ton and it will make you a better hunter wherever the winds take you. In the end, if your father won't take you to Africa, maybe you will have the fire to take your child one day. (y). Enjoy the site.

Aleksander thanks for coming clean... Honesty is always the best policy!

Words of wisdom from Pheroze...

Find the hunt reports and figure out how to do searches. Show your dad. Hunting in Africa is usually very good! Search out Zimbabwe. Daily rates are very high in the wild places like Zimbabwe. But trophy fees tend to be lower... However game numbers can be lower as well. All depends on the area, the weather, of course the animals... And largely by human interaction, how much livestock there is competing for forage, people about, hunting pressure, and of course poaching.

In places like Zimbabwe, you WILL see the real Africa! Both the awesomeness and the awfulness!

In RSA (Republic of South Africa) the game number are usually higher, day fees cheaper because there is good infrastructure, however trophy fees can be a lot higher.... So the cost really depends upon what you want.

Your very young and you should be going to school in September... You should research for a year, hunt deer this fall again to gain experience, and start saving your money. Go get a summer job to keep you busy, work hard, save up (or invest), stay the course and your dreams will come true.

Alek, @ActionBob and others have given you good advise, you still young, start off on the plains game and work up to DG, give yourself something to look forward to.

Like others have said, good job of being honest and coming clean.

Looking forward to talking to you here on the site and glad you are so passionate about hunting. :)

Thank you, and I will work hard and save up. I really want to go and hunt in Africa, and hopefully I will.

@Aleksandar my boy, takes a man to admit his mistakes and cowboy up and come clean. Kudos to you.
I grew up in a non "hunting" family but if you have fun powder in your blood and the wild sense of adventure in your soul, you will find a way to make it work for you someday. As a kid we did not have the WWW to look and learn from,I use to exchange glass bottles for cash to buy hunting magazines to fill my day dreams with. Today I have done my fair share of hunting and will continue to do so until I leave the old body behind to hunt the big blue sky with my soul.
Be patient and take that patience as your first lesson in hunting, the patient hunter is more likely to succeed.

Looks like Spike was right several days ago: this was a waste of time. I will enquire if Alex....'s membership should be dropped.

Hi William W

I am missing something here, are you seeking to have the membership of an insecure 15 year old revoked or do you suspect he is not what he now claims to be?

Do you want an insecure 15-year old involved with anything shooting-related? In this day and age, the next thing we will see him in is a mass murder saying that he thought that those he was shooting was a herd of animals and he got his inspiration from this great web site!

Good Morning x84958
I have read your post about Jamy Traut and your hunt in Caprivi. I am planning such a hunt for 2026, Oct with Jamy.
Just a question , because I will combine Caprivi and Panorama for PG, is the daily rate the same the week long, I mean the one for Caprivi or when in Panorama it will be a PG rate ?
thank you and congrats for your story.
Best regards
Philippe from France

Hello Doug,
I am Philippe from France and plan to go hunting Caprivi in 2026, Oct.
I have read on AH you had some time in Vic Falls after hunting. May I ask you with whom you have planned / organized the Chobe NP tour and the different visits. (with my GF we will have 4 days and 3 nights there)
Thank in advance, I will appreciate your response.
Merci
Philippe
