8x64 Brenneke....Who has one ?

Thanks to all for their input in this, because of this thread I've discovered the 8mm Mazon.
I'm thinking this is exactly what I am looking for....non belted, fits '98 action, cases available from Bertram Brass, reamer from JGS and dies from RCBS.....if they kept the specs...

If you are considering an 8 MM Mazon, why not, for very similar if not better powder volume consider a 8 mm x 375 Ruger? You could rebarrel any 300 WINmag or 375 Ruger , Pacific Tools and Gauge will make you a reamer.

I looked at that after I read your post, looks like an interesting cartridge…..now I’m eyeing off my Colombian carbine that needs restoring….

I've had correspondence with the owner/designer of the 8mm Mazon, Alvaro Mazon, and he's looking into sending his reamer to me on loan....mainly checking legalities of sending a reamer from Spain to Australia, and back.....looks promising...

I now have the reamer and go / no go gauges for the 8mm Mazon, ( Thanks Alvaro ) so first thing after Chrissy we'll see what we can do with it.

I'll rechamber the original barrel first, but it I think it might be a bit light. At the moment it's in a Butler Creek synthetic stock but I also have a Slee xxx walnut for it that I bought from Geoff back in the 80's.

Hey I have the ZG47 in 8x64 and 9.3x62 ..Love them both.. the 8 is for bears and elk and the 9.3 is for Moose.. My plan was to take the 8x64 to Africa this year as my plains game rifle.. I decided to just use 375 for everything instead..

The 8x64 S has never been a popular caliber in my country and I would say the most "common" rifles in this caliber are old military Mauser rifles that were reamed to accept this cartridge, as well as the 8x60 S, because the original 8x57 JS was forbiden for hunting in my country from 1939 untill 2013. Very few modern rifles offer, or have offered, this caliber. I spoke with 2 hunters who had Blaser R93 in this caliber, but that's all and now this caliber is discontinued by Blaser. One of these hunters used Nosler partition 200 gr pushed at 800 m/s (2624 f/s) and he loved it.
I think Heym also offered it in the SR30, but I have never seen one in real.
