500 Jeffery Club

Yep. You can snap 4 in the mag but the fourth won't go down far enough to push the bolt over it. It will run 3 in the mag with one in the pipe easy though. I just did about 3 repetitions of that for some 25 yard off hand rapid fire.

Three should be more than enough from a 500 Jeffery.

@Backyardsniper - nice jammy pants! I have ones just like that. :ROFLMAO: Nice shooting too. ;)

I have a Sako 85. It is a staggered mag. Mine holds 3 down, I use leupold QD rings and I did not have trouble with ejection issues, but I think I went with medium, or high, I will double check. I ended up putting a trijicon RMR on it. They made a base that fits the Sako scope mount. I killed a deer at 110yds with the RMR. It is a great handling rifle. The only issue is the size of the mag box if you want to run longer bullets. OAL of 3.550 is all you got. Not an issue with any bullets except maybe Barnes TSX 570's. I am going to shoot mine some this afternoon. I will post some pics here later todayView attachment 506166View attachment 506167View attachment 506168
Sako xl action for 450 or 416 rigby takes 3.750 col ammo. But 500j is only 3.43. Cant understand why the magazine is short.

As requested by @norfolk shooter here is a quick clip of some rapid fire 500 Jeffrey from the Sako. I had a target set up at 25 yards and this was about as fast as I could line it up and keep them in a decent group, and honestly this group wasn’t that decent. I will probably shoot another video on this at some point and get the shot timer out and really see what I can do. I also need to do that with the 470. Fire a pair and reload then fire another pair for time and accuracy. I’m about 30 rounds in today though and most of those were off the bench, that is probably plenty for today. These are 570 gr bullets over 115 grains of reloader 16.
Video will be up shortly.
Thanks bro. Im about the size of your foot so that recoil might just send me across the field :ROFLMAO:

The Sako is about 9.5lb from the factory. I had a mercury recoil reducer installed but I think it is still only around 10.5lb. She is a pretty stiff on the recoil, but definitely shootable. When shooting the 570 grain bullets it has a noticeably stiffer recoil than my Kreighoff 470. The rifle is very quick handling and has a great trigger though.

Yeah recoil is pretty sporty with the 570g bullets at 2300 fps any faster and the fun index drops quickly

Reading how people that have scopes on these rifles have had issues with the brass ejection. Watching your video I see how it is possible, the brass is ejecting what looks to be 11 o'clock and hard. Looks to be 5-8 feet above the rifle.

Having shot a 470 once, it seemed about equal to my 416REM. The 458Lott has more recoil on paper, in the R8 it feels more smooth. I'm not sure what a 500 would feel like in the R8. Maybe one day I'll find out.

It's a lot of recoil. One guy even looses his grip on the rifle for a moment.

I hear they're considering changing the name of the 500 Jeffery to 510 Creedmoor. Should boost sales by a huge margin!
If that happens Im not getting one even if you pay me. Fucking sheepmoor

Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?
