3 Year Plan

Here is my "plan":

2024 - Retirement (Jun), South Dakota for pheasant and deer (Nov), local hunting (Oct-Jan)
2025 - Back to SA Eastern Cape, species???? Possibly go to Argentina on vacation (wife wants to visit her niece) me maybe hunt a Stag. Local hunting (Oct-Jan)
2026 - ???? Not sure, maybe somewhere in Africa.

There is someone in this forum who mentioned hunting Alaska, so depending on how retirement treats me, I may take him up on that offer.

Well, if I have my ducks in line, I "should" be ok. I went to a Federal Employee Retirement Seminar, and the guy behind the mike said that when you make more money staying at home than working, it's time to go. I believe I'll be there next year. I may end up taking a parttime job, so I can keep this African addiction alive.

Buddies buffalo hunt, I will just be taking a few impala. In Zim.
Kariba tiger tournament in October.
London to do Holland and Holland, Purdey's, Rigby and Westley Richards in Birmingham. And the favourite pubs.
Carry on up to Scotland by train for driven pheasant.
Maybe zebra hunt in Limpopo carried over from 2020.
Buy a new double.
2022
A buffalo with my new double, in Zim
Tiger Tournament
Several safari lodges with Mrs P and some family.
2023
Seaside lodge trips to some islands.
A local hunt for crocodile.

Most of that happened, we had a fabulous trip to Scotland for stag and birds, will be written up shortly.
2023 Remainder to include a few trips to sarari lodges, no hunting per se.
2024 PG hunt around June with my new Ruger No1 30-06.
Mouflon hunt for my daughter and I, probably France or Spain.
Buffalo bull in around September with my double, that still hasn’t happened.
Tiger Tournament in October.
2025 More PG hunting. Probably a trip to the UK for pheasant. Tiger Tournament in October.

My update

2022 - successful RSA and Namibia Trip. Punched the bull elk tag I drew in NM
2023 - RSA x2, decided to eat the mule deer tag I drew and jump on an end of season Ele hunt that I leave for shortly
2024 - Still hoping to drew either a Moose or Goat Tag in Alaska and some other states. Probably taking a year off from Africa. If I don’t draw anything across the board, I’ll look at Ibex in Spain or Red Deer somewhere.
2025 - Same as 2024 and save so I can do a Sheep on 2026 or 2027 and plan Tuskless for the off year

Chewore is where Dalton has us planned for at this time. I was only going to do some preliminary ground work for 2026 and either do Elephant or Leopard. I visited with several outfitters during the first two days of show. I had previous emails with Dalton already. When I went by there booth we sat down and hit it off. Everything felt right and they were able to do both primary animals out of same camp at one time. Buff is an add on if we find one. Dalton was able to check all the boxes I was looking for at a price I could handle in an area that I have always wanted to hunt. This will actually be my first hunt in Zim.

Update

Though fully paid for, the Kamchatka bear hunt will never happen in this lifetime.

April '24 Gredos and Beceite roe deer (4) while a friend hunts ibex and all of us (spouses are along) then enjoy the south of Spain for two weeks.

Two years of Covid and two of war. While it is technically possible for an American to enter Russia through Turkey, it is not something anyone with half a brain would do in the current circumstance - particularly a retired senior military officer.

Never plan to much, hopefully a wax to hunt another species will occur.

My plans also changed, got an email over the weekend from an outfitter id talked to before about various hunts about a cancellation/discounted muskox hunt this april. Needless to say ive ended up cancelling my mule deer hunt in november to take advantage of this once in a lifetime opportunity
