Exactly the same. Leaving Atlanta July 10th. Kasey with PWP has been terrific, answering all my silly questions. I’m using Africa Sky for firearms since I will be staying there before going onto Port Elizabeth. For the amount they charge it’s worth it for the piece of mind.

I only treat the outside of my clothes and let dry. Would treat a pair of pants and shirt then let her wear it before you leave the states to find out.

I would go with a 30/06 and contact Silencer Central and get a suppressor like the Banish backcountry. Greatly reduces recoil and mitigates muzzle blast to almost zero. Only weighs 7.8 oz and 5.5 inches long. No issue taking it to South Africa.

Is there anything wrong or illegal with leaving ammunition in South Africa for a PH? I have heard of others doing this.

Old habits are hard to break, but I agree. Because of the wisdom of this group I have reduced it down to 60 rounds of 300 win mag and 50 rounds of 7 REM Mag. That including case lock and extra lock in case TSA decides they want to cut my lock off is 10.5 lbs.

I plan on gifting the extra ammunition and case to the PH for a future client. Not worth the hassle coming back.

Yes. Same for Delta. The challenge is flying in South Africa Air Link only gives 5kg including box. I have reduced ammo load to sixty 300 win mag and fifty 7mm Rem mag. Now, box, lock, extra lock and ammo come in under 5kg so one less thing to worry about.

I was warned by my booking company Trophy Worldwide Adventures (Cabelas booking company) not to go through Newark due to the problems their clients have been having recently with getting firearms to their final destination. Have you heard anything about this?

They had to do this to be able to cut weight and still maintain profit. Flying out of higher attitude Joberg last year in hot weather used too much fuel forcing to divert for fuel. This will reduce weight.

BTW this is why I only own Leupold to this day. Sent in the pieces of that scope with a nice note that said I broke this, can you do anything. Got a nice note back apologizing that it was too damaged to repair but here was a new replacement scope. Since then I have bought at least a dozen...

Will be taking 12 animals. Hunting Eastern Cape so could experience both longer shots and wind. While I probably don’t need as much ammunition as I was plan on taking not comfortable only taking 20 rounds each.

No doubt you are correct two boxes each would be fine. Just old habits of if I have ammo and water everything else is optional.

I would say you would have the same issue. Although the same could be said for 308 and 30-06 as they are all 30 cal.
