I’ve hunted with Dalton and the Mokore team in the Save. My family is hunting with them again later this year in Mozambique. I would 100% go with them.
They are an absolutely professional and fun team to hunt with. The camp is phenomenal too.
I took this picture from the front porch of our...
If you’re in Houston reach out to Woods and Water in Conroe. They have done all of my extended family’s African taxidermy. We are real happy with their work. Prices are listed on the website.
They can also assist with the importation process.

I’m taking my Remington 700 CDL in 7mm-08 using Barnes TTSX 150 grain rounds for plains game to Mozambique in October this year. Ideally taking Nyala, Kudu, Warthog, Impala, Duiker and maybe a Bushbuck. I’ll post up a full report later this year!
In October our family is heading to Mozambique to the Coutada 9 with Mokore Safaris.
My priority list for the hunt:
1) Nyala - definitely my number 1 for this trip
2) Kudu - I missed a nice one in Zim last year
3) Warthog - they are huuuge in Moz!
4) Impala - probably one of my favorites

I just wanted to leave some positive public feedback about buying books from Derrick Edwin if anyone is on the fence about buying books off of a message board.
I private messaged him about the four books shown below and he happily provided multiple pictures of each book. I Venmo'ed him the...
Choice Ammo has 300 grain TSX on the shelf in 375:
https://choiceammunition.com/product/375-hh-magnum-300-grain-barnes-tsx-lead-free100-hand-loaded/
I use Choice Ammunition in my 7mm-08, pretty happy with it so far.
I’ve had my eye on a Parkwest Arms SD-76 Savanna in 375 H&H, optioned out at probably about $12k.
By no means an “unlimited budget” rifle, but something I’ll probably pull the trigger on one of these days.
Also a fan of 7mm’s!
I’m taking my 7mm-08 to Mozambique for PG next year. I’m using a 150 grain TTSX.
I’m pretty impressed with the rifle so far. I took a Texas Whitetail at about 90 yards last week, the shot was a devastating broadside double lung, a complete pass through. The deer hardly...
So coincidentally over weekend, I purchased a Pelican Vault V200 equipment case that I plan to transport my ammo in from Texas to Mozambique for a hunt later in 2025.
As you can see in the pics below, I loaded up 80 rounds of 150 grain 7mm-08 and it weighed less than 10 lbs. Exactly 9.78...
I’m not an experienced elephant hunter, but we had a plains game hunt last year in the Save Valley of Zimbabwe with Mokore Safaris.
There were elephants everywhere! Multiple herds every day. Saw many large bulls and I imagine this would be at least a good location and outfitter to look at...
I just received my new Leupold VX-6HD 1-6X24 CDS-ZL2 ILLUM. FIREDOT DUPLEX (Part # 171552). I haven’t used it yet in the field, but I’m quite impressed with it so far.
Well personally I’m a bit limited on bolt action rifles, as my 7mm-08 is currently my only one. I don’t really want to buy another “small” caliber when this one should cover most PG.
Otherwise I only have AR platforms that I can’t use in Africa.
Later on I plan to pick up a 375 or 416 for...
Funny! We are on opposite sides of the spectrum here. To each their own! (y)
My office has “limited” room for a really large shoulder mount and I’d rather have a Buffalo than an Eland. And I don’t think a Buffalo hunt is in the cards for this next trip.
Eland are an amazing species and I...
Great responses! I really appreciate everyone’s feedback as this is an area I’m still learning about.
Sounds like generally speaking the Barnes TTSX should be what I ask my PH about using?
Fast and flat, not heavy, so maybe use the TTSX in the 140 grain?
OR at 100-150 yard ranges would a...
That's a great point.
In Zim we didn't take any shots further out than 200 yards and I'm told that in C9 our shots will be even closer. So my assumption in mostly 100 yard shots.
So the 150 grain TTSX sounds like it would work well in this application?
Ammo availability is obviously one thing that is driving my choice here.
On Hendershots only the following rounds that interest me are available in 7MM:
Barnes TTSX 140 (Maybe I should consider this?)
Barnes TTSX 150
Nosler Accubond 140
The AB 160 isn't in stock right now.
I used Mokore's .308 camp rifle last year.
I'm not sure what grain bullet we were using, but my sister in law took a beautiful Kudu with it, one shot and ran less than 50 yards.
Thanks for the feedback Nhoro!
We haven't talked with Neil yet. Gary, Dalton and Tristan were our group's PHs in Zimbabwe last year. Right now we've just been in touch with Gary about planning our next trip.
As you and many others here have noted, I will without a doubt run my rifle set up...
Hi! This is my first post on African Hunting after lurking for the last year.
A little background to my question......I was blessed to be invited on my first African hunt in Zimbabwe last July with Mokore Safaris at their Savé Valley Conservancy camp. Our party had an amazing time, I took a...
