Picked this m70 up at local gun shop. Nothing super special but stock work is very nicely done I had a rod put in tang, pillar bedded. Was less than 1200$ in rig. Shoots great! Good hunter no worries about dings and scratches.

I believe so. Scope rings came with gun. Thank you for letting me know about full size button. I’m new to forums and such. Don’t even do social media!! Any help is appreciated!!!!!!!
From what I could find out about the 1910. The bolt and safety shroud are interchangeable for the 98 Mauser. I put a 98 Timney trigger in it and it works had to file little bit of material from receiver as Timney has redesigned trigger. But I plan on having a gunsmith in stall safety. Liked the...
Hi guys, just picked up this custom Mauser from my local shop. She is a beauty!!! Whoever was the gunsmith they did an excellent job. Stock is outstanding bedded perfectly. Has Winchester style safety but only two positions. So I’m gonna order a three position from Gentry custom.
So I was...
Not trying to change the subject of this conversation. I own 23 model 70’s. Some CRF and a lot push feed. Have a beautiful safari express that’s push feed and never had an issue with it or any other push feed model 70 I own. I would carry it Grizzly hunting or lion hunting and the fact that it...
CZ’s are great rifles. I haven’t hunted Africa but when I’m in the woods hunting and look down at my rifle seeing New Haven, Connecticut USA it’s the only choice!!! Don’t do that new Winchester stuff!
I have pre 64 replica from pre 64.com. Not sure if it will work comb was lowered and not sure if bottom of stock had material removed. Worried if I have to take a lot of of pad I will hit metal plate in it?
Picked up this m70 recently just wanted to share a pic with you 375 guys. It has had the stock shaped to look like a Holland or what I think a true H&H would look like, I might be wrong. The stock is the original just modified, they did a great job. Bottom of grip has been pinned for strength...
I know what you’re saying. I’m hearing shortages like we haven’t seen. Russia is a main supplier of potassium nitrate. Not like before when Covid was supposed to be the blame. When 4350 and 4831 can about be only bought on gun broker. Bad stuff is coming!!!
Talk at my local Gun shop is powders will become hard to get because key ingredients are sourced from Russia and China. I have noticed the price of powders going crazy. I use a lot of IMR powder and see a pound can run from $65 - 75$ which is crazy!!! No IMR in stock at Midway. Think I’m gonna...
You guys helped me to decide on Cerokote for gun build but looking for advice on best black for rifle. It will be in its original wood stock semi gloss. I think gloss black may be to glossy not sure but had rifle in pic done in Cerokote color that is supposed to mimic gun blueing. I never cared...
Just sent my Winchester m70 pre 64 to Hart barrels to have a new barrel, action done and gun pillar bedded. 24” Barrel in .280 Ackley Improved. They do it all. Can’t wait! Great people at Hart barrels in N.Y
Question is stay stainless and just have action blued or have it...
Funny you responded. Was actually reading your thread on your Mauser Interarms build round same time you posted. Thank you for info!! Just loaded up a few with the 350 Speer bullets. Just to get my iron sights sighted in. Recoil was not too bad and shot about an inch at 50 yards. Gonna have to...
Do .458 win mag barrels all have twist’s that will shoot these bullets accurately? Not sure what my twist is but smith thought there is only one twist rate for the 458. Also who sells these bullets as someday hope to hunt Africa but reality is bear would most likely be the only dangerous game I...
Thanks for info. Could you suggest a good bullet in the 300-350 gr category. This would be most powerful gun I’ve shot, want to get used to it. Little nervous about starting out with 500 gr beast! Believe gun shop had some Speer 350 gr bullets
Hi guys, was gonna load some 300 gr Interlocks for my gun. Have most Imr powders some H335. Was looking for a good load and a good powder. One of reloading books said max load would only shoot about 2100 ft per second?? This seemed low for such a light bullet. Believe powder was IMR 4198
Thanks everyone, wouldn’t be what it is without the best gunsmith around. He made what it is. He put the Winchester bolt handle on it, final shaped stock and gave it that incredible finish. His engraving is second to none and put sights on it and more….. Thank you Mark P.
Thanks for the welcome!! This is a great forum!!! Learned lots about DG rifles and Africa. Just a great way to gain knowledge for guns and hunting Africa love the classifieds!!
Just got it back today. Hope to work up a load for it soon. Gun is full length bedded. Hope it is a tack driver. I was gonna start with some 300 gr interlocks I picked up. Wanted to load it like a 45/70 to start off.
Hi AH members, enjoying this forum a lot!
One of my favorite things to do is look at all the pics of the beautiful guns you guys have.
I have become African rifle obsessed through this build. My gun was a project that my father’s friend started about 25 years ago.
He had a Douglas...
I agree with SRvet. If your Weatherby is a bolt action it was made by Anschutz for Weatherby and is a super high quality gun. Unless someone ruined barrel cleaning. Try different rings as gun has mounting rail machined into receiver. Can’t be the bases!
I also have same set up. I am sure you know what you’re doing but maybe one of the mounts aren’t sitting right on the 11 mm groove? I have Burris high gloss mounts on mine and leupold 2-7 rimfire scope. Don’t see how gun it’s self can be issue.
