Looking to travel this year a few times back to Africa. Does anyone know what the situation is with EIS or just the 4457? And is SAPS insisting I get a new 4457 dated the year I going? Thanks guys.
Alan
I am sure all the greenies will come up with the following.
We shouldn't shoot deer with CWD. We can love them back to health and if it spreads to humans it's our own fault for eating deer.
If reason and logic reigned supreme in the U.S. we would have more hunters. Please continue on...
This is a fantastic thread. I can never sell my trophies. Each has a story. Every time I sit at my desk and look at them I am reminded of the experience and the accompanying emotions. I have only hunted with one outfitter and he's my best friend at this point. Those experiences...
I have a ton of backskins that need to be done. I would love some more rifle cases. Does your Amish buddy also make pillows? Let me know and I can ship some things your way. Thanks.
Damn I just told my wife last night that if there is a leopard or elephant hunt on AH before the end of the year I am going to pull the trigger.
So now I have to ask. What dates are available?
Seriously. My 6 year old knows you don't put your finger on the trigger until you are ready to discharge the weapon. I have some sympathy for these people but as my GM says, if you're going to be stupid you better be tough.
Very good article. When asking why meat eating subcontracting killers launch such venomous attacks, remember that man is the only species that will intentionally commit suicide.
The US doesn't want to be confused with the facts. They want to succumb to the pressure from meat eating keyboard warriors who subcontract their killing of their food.
Business owner. Oil, transportation and finance are the 3 currently. However, I think there is a huge hole in online marketing for African hunts. I'd love to figure out how to plug that hole. Just met with my marketing guy today......
This leads to another question I have. I have a great big giraffe skin coming over. I don't want to know what it's going to weigh. However I would like to have a wingback chair covered in giraffe. Would be a decorative office chair. I have local upholstery guys but do I trust them...
This type of situation is why I stick with what I know. Yeah it may be better or cheaper or whatever. But I hunt with the same guy year after year and the same taxidermy guy over and over. Is it Perfect? No. As we have chased animals all over S.A. have we been disappointed? Yes. But...
I have carried large amounts of cash in and out of the country to Africa and other places. Not really that big a hassle going out. Headed back in it certainly was a pain.
But seriously, most guys have a bank account you can wire international to.
They don't maintain the number. That is pretty much the bottom line. My guess is that number is a derivative if what they have actually caught or found. It's like an iceberg, you only see the tip.
My outfitter trades a local grocer for credit. He then distributes the credit to staff and family. This way they are able to literally feed lots of family from the animals taken. And they are limited to meat. Vegetables and other food stuffs as well.
And a few months is really really...
What about having things made of the horns and cape? Somewhat cheaper. Horns carved, pillow of capes, etc. When you go back, and you will go back, swing by the taxidermist and pick up the stuff. Tuck it in your bag and bring it home. No shipping. And it all has pretty low value to...
The only drawback to premium economy bulkhead is everyone standing in front of you waiting for the bathroom. Definitely take the window if you have narrow shoulders.
That estimate seems about right. I have 4 crates from 5 trips coming at once with a full mount lioness, cape buff shoulder mount, hippo skull and coffee table with feet and plains game. 7k to send it via air. My last shipment was 2 large crates and it was around 3k if I remember correctly...
I agree trust has to be there. But I will say that if anything goes wrong the outfitter is on the hook and liable. And S.A. isn't a place where I would want to see the inside of a jail.
It's actually illegal I believe to hunt in S.A. without a licensed hunter. Not saying I haven't done it before but I still had a tracker and had hunted with my PH a cumulative total of 70 days before I may or may not have done that. Less people = less noise = increased odds.
