Pet peeves?

Trophy hunters & anyone who gets driven around instead of walk and stalk should take up another hobby. Anyone who thinks shooting from a blind or bait station has anything to do with hunting...all of the above : exploitation of resources by those doing it, and those charging for it.

The list could keep going to the point of crashing the site! lol!

Anyone who hunts inhumanely, but that goes without saying.

People who criticize me for using too little gun or too much gun (looking at all the Texans).

Anyone who does not appreciate sxs shotguns and London best anything.

The Dutch.

People who prefer Bombay Sapphire to Bombay London Dry.

People who can't tell the difference between yards and feet when they discuss shot distance........

I've hunted birds in other countries ans the other hunters that I get mixed in with, don't do any homework on what they are hunting or other game available. An example is my oscillated turkey hunt. Of a group of 6, 4 didn't know what one sounded like or even looked like, let alone what other animals were available to hunt. 2 didn't even know where they were and were confused with other hunts booked. Although I haven't hunted Africa yet, I am familiar with the species and bulls vs cows, drakes vs hens to have a general understanding to be legal and the mounts I'd like to take back.

Sitting in airports reading every post on AH and knowing that I don't get to leave for the Kalahari for another 10 days .......

I guess at least half of the folks on this forum are pet peeves of yours then... I'm not going to get into this with you. This horse has been beaten to a pulp.... Suffice to say, the whole point of my post earlier in this thread was to address points of view such as yours above.

I hate to break this to you, but if you have ever concealed yourself behind a tree, a bush, a rock etc.., you have hunted from a blind.... If you have ever stalked up to, or set up on an animal in a known feeding area natural or not, then you have hunted over a bait..... If you don't like the method by which someone else hunts, that's fine, but don't be critical of other hunters preferred methods if they happen to differ from yours and then proclaim them with a general statement that it is "not hunting".

What's the saying,,from blood thirsty youngster to quiet conservationist...most real hunters have a lightbulb moment when they realise what it's all about, ethical hunting for a real purpose such as survival or proper management and conservation of a biodiverse environment...not generating revenue and local employment or enjoying a holiday at the expense of an environment for idiots trying to relive the past romance of Africa from the back of a pick up whilst their guides are rolling their eyes but swallowing their pride because they need the money.....and of course, yes, this isn't just about africa, this happens all over the world, very very much local to my home country.

But not everyone will have that lightbulb moment that animals should not be killed for sport, but for a true purpose that benefits the herd, species and environment if it isn't for survival purposes,,,in a manner which if it is done, is a real challenge, ethical, and for some Species, a dangerous encounter. With honour.. Not paying for a holiday to sit nice and cosy until a shot at a trophy presents itself, a shot at a beast that should not be removed from the herd, and then celebrated as if it was done as some sort of great achievement....

Yep, a pet peeve one might say

My pet peeve is that some people seem to think i need the same "lightbulb" moment as them, i apparently am unable to have thought for myself on what I choose to do (all within the legal requirements of course)

Which of these two categories do you fall into? I would love to hear specific examples as well...

I'd like to hear you say that to a combat wounded veteran whom can't stalk anymore. I've hunted with them on vehicles and in blinds, and quite frankly, after that ignorant of a statement, they're more of a true hunter than you are if you retain your judgement.

How about tell that to the father or grandfather (or mother and grandmother) whom wants to hunt but doesn't have the physical stamina or ability to stalk...are you more ethical because of your preference? Should their passion for hunting and conservation be compromised and abondoned because they don't meet 'your' requirements?

I work in the hunting and shooting industry, I design, development, and market equipment from cut & sew, to hardgoods, to optics; and Ive found your recent posts to all be quite ignorant and judgemental let alone presumptuous.

Back to the OP's post...my pet peeves? Already summed up by @firehuntfish

LOL... How nice of you to espouse your hypocrisy with a generous dose of arrogance and pomposity. You are either clueless or you are baiting... Either way, not worth anymore replies to give you a platform... You will make a lot of friends here with that attitude, and best of luck hunting from your high horse....

Yes Virginia, the closet PETA trolls ARE on these forums, usually self proclaimed ethicists who wouldn't know a sprinbuck from a sawbuck.

PETA? More like PITA.

Rob Zombie is in PETA so they cannot be all that bad.

........... , and those charging for it.
.............

Could you imagine someone attempting to base a business on servicing such a pompous group, meanwhile holding this attitude and resenting this group at the same time?

ie. Buying and reselling firearms, etc.
