If you use the PHs rifles, he will have a .30 caliber for prairie game and a .375 H&H for the buff most likely. With that being said, on a dedicated Buff stalk, he will probably be carrying a 416 or 458 to back you up with. .375, .416 Rem/Rigby/Taylor, 458WM/Lott seem to be the favorites...

To revive an old thread, what about the 400 grain Federal Premium Trophy Bonded Rounds? Were they any good? Also the 400 grain Barnes SSSP / SSFB?

I have seen where alot of the reports say they are built much better than older guns and that they will handle more robust 45-70 loads

Looking to fine tune this monster and was wondering if anybody had a couple of boxes of 400 grain rounds to fit the 458 Win? Thought about shooting 420 grain CEB Raptors, but not quite ready to pull the trigger on them yet.

Yep, Coppersmith is your guy. They flew mine into Atlanta and I went and picked them up. Im in Tennessee so it wasnt such a long trip. I would assume they could fly in somewhere closer though.

Walmart actually has some decent ones. We have the Fierce 405 and its all anybody would need. It is hard to pull back though. Would recommend a cocking handle mechanism. We took ours to Africa in '22 and my wife shot a nice sable with it and barely missed an impala (fast little sucker).

We hunted over Springers on our last pheasant hunt and they performed fantastic. We have Goldens here in Tennessee. Our female is in heat right now to the point she is trying to teach our younger male (not related) the technique lol

I recently bought a 458 Win that had a fixed 8 power Weaver on it! Definitely a head scratcher. Now a 2.5 power fix steel Weaver sits atop it.
