I see self check outs brought up frequently in discussions. And supposed loss of jobs.
Obviously I can't speak of the entire country but I've worked in grocery stores most of my life. 37 years.
If it wasn't for the self check outs you'd have even emptier shelves. Nobody lost thier job...
Frequently you can low crawl several hundred yards closer without being seen. And generally the vegetation is low enough to shoot from the prone position.
Not to many years ago it was easy to get 6 tags each in Wyoming. I shot about 80% of 30+ antelope off my bipod.
In one of those last pictures you can see the toe of my size 12 shoe.
The tracks are wider, obviously the ground was soft and the hooves splayed out but still very large.
I should have put something for reference but some are very very large
Everything is indented fairly deep into the stone. The ranch I hunted on said it had been reported to some organization but I can't verify that. There was one other possible footprint that wasn't quite as clear in the lower right of the one photo.
Obviously I have no expertise in these things...
My collection is quite small but all picked up myself mostly in the area around Lexington Texas.
The the animal and human prints in the stone were taken on a ranch near Sonora Texas.
I also have some pottery shards and a matate with Mano found on my property in nw Colorado.
Good luck on your hunt!
I'll be on my first bear hunt also starting September 11th in the U.P. of Michigan. It's where I'm originally from so really looking forward to it.
As predicted not very well with the Remington loads that I tried. Over 3moa on this first outing.
I've got some S&B ordered that I'll try in the next few weeks after it gets here.
Overall I do love the rifle itself though
Hopefully I'll get to go shooting this Friday and see how things go.
Sounds like I may have mistakenly trusted Remington as a name I knew when I bought the bullets.
If they don't shoot well I'll purchase some S&B as those are readily available online.
The guide was amazing and did hid best. Even though he'd never actually been in the area we were hunting. I did get a representative moose.
The person I went with was afraid of small planes so we did the lodge hunt instead of fly in. Supposedly just as good. Other staff told us at the time...
Only a flat tire moose hunting in Newfoundland with a very well known outfitter.
Problem was we found out the outfitter knew it had a slow leak and sent us out anyway. 20 miles from anywhere it went flat. At that point found out there was no jack in the truck. Walked a few miles and found...
The only things locked in right now are Upper Michigan bear next month, Greenland muskox in February and South Africa in 2026 with my son. Going with @HENRY GRIFFITHS SAFARIS again there.
I'm trying to stay more open anymore as funds are limited and want to be able to jump on special deals...
There is a thread posted on a hunt with him back in April I think.
By far the best price I've found for this hunt with all good reviews so far from everyone I've talked to.
Sounds like a lot of us are going over the next 7 months. I know of a couple others who haven't posted here yet.
Hopefully some good reports get posted.
You have to get on the Greenlandair website.
I'm $2800 all in from Grand Junction Colorado to Denmark then kangerlussuaq.
$1800 was the Greenland air flight with layover in Nuuk on the way there and actually 2 stops to get back to Denmark.
I'm leaving here February 25th 2025
Thank you for the info. I've always had good luck in the past in other calibers with the core lokt bullets so just grabbed them due to the good price.
We'll see how they shoot soon.
Yeah that part really changed my budget. Higher flight costs and extra hotels.
I'm going to be traveling longer than hunting on this trip by the time I get home
Greenland air was the one that changed everything from the time I first booked the hunt.
No more direct flights to kangerlussuaq at least in the timeframe that I needed.
Some Greenland flights had 2 connections to get there.
This has all changed starting this year.
Fights from Copenhagen with connections are taking over 7 to as much as 24 hours.
The price has gone up as well.
I used travel express to get everything set up for next year. Already have my tickets.
It's a huge pain now as nuuk opened a new airport.
Greenland air has to be booked separately and depending on where you're going now adds extra connections.
I have to go to copenhagen then to Nuuk and...
Just a note. I'd been told cabelas would deal on used guns. They came down $300 pretty easily when I pushed on the price.
Plus I had to make a 100 mile drive twice to get it.
Once again as a direct result of being a member here I purchased a rifle I couldn't live without. This makes 4 now.
.275 rigby on a military mauser action
Ruger African in 6.5x55
Whitworth 375
And now a Ruger MKII in 7x64
I waited 6 weeks hoping someone else would buy it at my local cabelas...
Good question and I'll be following. Lynx is out of my budget but really want to get a bobcat.
I killed a good lion way back in 97. Guy with hounds offered me the hunt for only $500 as he wasn't doing anything at the time. Pretty sure he spent it all in fuel before we got the Tom on the 5th...
In my experience the term prices subject to change applied up until an agreement is made.
I hunted with a forum sponsor last year that I booked with for 2022. Had to postpone an extra year due to covid.
He stuck to the agreed price even though I said I understood changes due to the circumstances.
Thank you sir,
I'll likely reach out soon. I can get plenty of cheap s&b ammo but not sure if that's what I would hunt with. All other ammo seems to be gone at the moment.
I did in fact purchase a late 90s Ruger MK11 but have to wait at least 3 days due to the new Colorado waiting period...
I'll be heading to Upper Michigan in September for bear with my son. Took 11 years to get the first season Newberry tag. I don't often get to go back to where I'm from so looking forward to this one.
Unless I'm lucky in the secondary draw this week I didn't get a deer tag in Colorado again...
I just flew to Alaska from Denver with my 15 year old grandson for a fishing trip.
Literally nobody questioned anything anywhere other than if he was with me.
No ID required or anything else other than his ticket booked with mine.
I hunted both this past January with home counties sporting.
About an hour outside London.
Not sure if he hunts them year round or not though.
I wrote a brief report .
First time there and had a really good time.
