I took mine in Namibia a couple of hours west of Etosha. We were out looking for leopard bait and saw him in the bush. The PH had his .22 mag with him and that is what I used. Had the back straps that night as a “starter” and they were very good.
Sir,
Outstanding and congrats on your well earned elephant. When you see 200 plus folks standing in line for some meat it makes for a very humbling experience. Enjoy. That moment.
Philip and Jasper - Congratulations on your epic safari. Awesome to have that experience with father and son.
Vaugh - awesome job on getting those memories on film. I watched the video last night with Jenni. She now has a better understanding of the terrain where we were hunting.
I made a replica of the horns. I have them sitting on my bar. I had it done with Kanati Taxidermy. I was originally going to do a shoulder mount and then reality set in - My wife asked where I was going to put it? Above the bed was not the right answer.
I’m the lucky guy in the above photo. I can’t say enough great things about the darting of this magnificent animal and hunting with Dempsey of Bayly and Sippel. The whole experience was first class and for such a big animal they can move on a dime. Deets did a fantastic job with the attached...
On my third attempt I thought if it does not happen it’s just not meant to be. Lot of emotion when I walked up on the cat. I’m not sure yet on who I’m going to book with. I had a great time in the Omay with Dalton and York and they would definitely be at the top of the list. Though I have...
I’m one for three. My first hunt was with dogs in Zimbabwe in 2008. My buddy was also hunting leopard with dogs (we each had our own PH) and he got his on the third day. I on the other hand, only saw two females treed. Though, I felt like I had an awesome experience. My next hunt was in...
I have used Canvas on Demand. Never had any issues with my hunting photos. They do metal pictures but I have not yet gotten any. I don’t believe they do books either. If I have had any issues they sent a new canvas free of charge.
I’m just back from Zimbabwe and put many miles on my boots. About a year ago, I bought a pair of MACV 1 from Go Ruck. I wore then in preparation for my hunt. At first was not sure how they would hold up in Zim. They are lightweight and are not insulated or waterproof. After 130 plus...
Yes, it has been very dry. Dalton said 100% crop lost this year. We tracked through a couple of the fields and you can see that any plants that did germinate had been eaten to the ground.
Just received a Whatsapp from Dalton and both of my tusk are almost the same weight - 33 pounds apiece. Now the fun of dealing with USFW to get them to Missouri.
I’m bad about taking pictures of the camp but I did get a few. Attached are pictures of the dining area, the bar (in the middle of very bad drought water can be up to the bar) the chalet and a picture coming into camp in an area normally under water.
Thank you. I’m still not sure it has sunk in. I’m hoping to get the weights in the next couple of days. Dalton said it can a week or more before they can get them out of the skull.
Bull Elephant hunt with Dalton and York Safaris July 1-10, 2024.
Hunt: 10 day hunt in the Omay for Bull Elephant. My recommendations are to book this as a 12 day hunt and be in the best physical and mental shape you can be in. This was my first elephant hunt and I thought I was in great...
All I can say is what an awesome and humbling experience it was for me to hunt and take a Bull elephant. Also, to see all the villagers show up for a couple pounds of meat - truly a very emotional moment for me. I can’t say enough good about Dalton and York and their operation. I also want to...
Jenni and I have commissioned her to do sable bulls at a pan. Jenni had a picture she took during our trip and think it will make for an awesome painting. Hope to get it when we are in SA this October.
