@mdwest Dave - I had the same issue - and found a tip on another forum that worked OK - basically replace the plastic washers with metal ones. It was pretty straightforward - try searching for 'BOG DeathGrip Modification' or similar.

Like @Rem280 - I had a great Kudu hunt in some amazing Eastern Cape country with @KMG Hunting Safaris.

I took the DSLR (Nikon D610) and 70-300 lens last time. A bit of an extra hassle, but i enjoyed the fruits of the long lens. Like others, I didn't carry it when on foot.

My mate just dropped in with some gifts! I'm sure many on here are familiar with the series Great Hunters: Their Trophy Rooms and Collections by Safari Press. Some impressive collections, beautifully photographed and sources of inspiration. Thanks Marvyn - what a guy! (y)

CZ 550 - was born a 375 Holland - now a 404 Jeffery, thanks to a Lothar Walther transplant. Buff horn tip and Pachmayr pad added by Ross Waghorn. It’s very accurate, feeds perfectly and seems to work well on pigs.
