    Sticks or no sticks?

I wouldn't leave the camp in the morning without my ASC shooting sticks. Used them successfully on a couple US elk and antelope hunts also.

Which camera should I take to RSA and what to do with it during the hunt?

I really enjoy the photography side of my trips and like to have a proper camera with me. I use a Fuji XT2 (XT5 is the current version) which is a compact interchangeable lens mirrorless camera. The XT cameras and X series WR lenses that are weather-resistant and built for hard use (not...

    African shooting sticks

Not that's it's ideal, but I've used them on game out to 400 yds and they've been great. It's all about practicing with them. It's good fun to run drills that progress out to 300-400, while adding some physical stress. Again, not ideal but shooting at distance makes the 100-250 yd shots feel...

    African shooting sticks

They're excellent and a true pleasure to use-own. Buy a set, start practicing with them and don't look back. They develop a great patina over the years also. The ASC folks are great to work with.

Recommendations on 20 gauge over under

All great choices, just depends what you want to spend. If you're going to lay down some serious money (north of $10K), look at Perazzi MX20's also. The entire gun will be made to your dimensions, choice of barrel length, stock finish, grade of wood, chokes etc. I'd say that and the K80/20...

You won't go wrong with a Beretta or a Browning. Try shooting them both and see which fits you best. You'll struggle if the dimensions are wrong.

I was in my local Orlando Rolex AD Sunday and had a wonderful experience. They happily cleaned and re-sized my wife's Datejust while we waited. Friendly, professional service and a great coffee. They also offered me the Sea Dweller 43 I had on my 3 watch wish list. (I've already found one so...

What Watch do you wear when you hunt?

At this point in the thread(s), I just find them entertaining. You can spot their screed-like manifestos professing liberation from the shackles of time at least a mile away. Why they'd go so far out of their way to pee on other people's harmless parade is beyond me?

Proper Dangerous Game Rifle followup when the client can't followup?

Agreed. Don't start something you aren't willing or able to finish. This was the lesson with my son before we went on our first buffalo hunt together. No way he was going on that hunt until he was mature enough to fully grasp this lesson. (and we had a great hunt)

Not at all, that's a fantastic combo. I like quality gear that's been used honestly and maintained well. Some of my favorite guns and cars came with a lot of honest use marks, but were priced right. I can use them without the nervousness of taking a pristine piece into the wild.

Agreed. I always insist on an inspection and original sales paperwork going back to the AD when dealing with private sellers. Buying without due diligence is begging to get scammed. The deep fakes are so good now. I was 90% of the way into buying a preowned GMT last year. Seller (not the...

    Extended vs regular chokes

Yes. The best sporting clays shooter I know uses an old Beretta 391 with factory tubes. 95% of targets he shoots with a Mod + #7.5s and for anything really close he pulls the tube out completely and uses #8s. Brutally effective shooter
  42. Tango

    Extended vs regular chokes

100%, look to the Brits when it comes to traditional shotgunning questions/technique/fit.
  43. Tango

    Extended vs regular chokes

In certain applications like turkey hunting with modern, ultra hard pellets etc or specialty waterfowl loads, the extended chokes can offer the ability to more readily fine tune patterns, no doubt. However, when it comes to standard lead target loads, lead upland loads etc....they offer nothing...

I agree on the snowflake hand, but since buying a Pelagos, I've warmed to it. It does show-up well in low light and I kind of like the reference to classic Tudor Submariners that used the snowflake hand.

Yes, that one got my attention also. Really well done. That dig on Tudor is one of the dumbest things I hear in the watch world. Tudor stands on its own as an excellent piece. That Black Bay or a Pelagos would be a great option in the Omega PO class.
