    9.3x62 Optics

That is why I bought my Vortex Crossfire II 3x12, Has that lower power with a wide view to get on target faster, just keep it on 3 to 4 setting and the turret adjustment to the zero at 200 yards at 100 yards will be 1.5 inches high , and using the 9.3x62mm for the terrain I would be hunting in...

    9.3x62 Optics

I originally wanted to use the Norma 230 grain Ecostrike but I could not find the ammo anywhere and one source said it is no longer being made or shipped to the US. Nightforce scopes are awesome much better then what I use for that nail drive longer range shots. I wish to go to Africa , budget...

Can a 30-06 Over under Rifle be re-bored to 9.3x62

Well just seems it is out of reach then , on a more limited income. Stick with bolt actions then. Wish there was a company that made a affordable double rifle.

Can a 30-06 Over under Rifle be re-bored to 9.3x62

The rounds you mentioned above are impossible to re-bore or are you saying it is not wise to re-bore to 30-06 , it is darn close to 9.3x62 smith said it is possible don't get it confused with 9.3x74r that is not possible at all.

Can a 30-06 Over under Rifle be re-bored to 9.3x62

Have a friend wanting to sell his OU 30-06 Merkel , I told him I was looking for one in 9.3x62 . He went on to say that most 30-06 can be rechambered for the 9.3x62 cal, Would this actually be possible for this rifle. Thanks for any thoughts.

    First Trip To Africa

Soooo wish I could find a 9.3x62 Over under Rifle , most of the Doubles I have found have been well way out of budget, I hear Merkel is the lower end of the scale, get to many people respondeing with 9.3x74r guns I have no interest in lol.

    First Trip To Africa

Hmmm maybe I am wrong here but if you look at the ballistics info for each round made by Norma for 9.3x62 the 230 grain Ecostrike outperforms most of there standard round like the Oryx 286 grain in both Ballistic Coef and hitting power or am I missing something here. That is why the PH...

    First Trip To Africa

Most of those heavy weight bullets are great , I am sure getting into Dangerous game, for just plains game like what I was going for the PH said in 9.3x62 a 220 to 250 grain bullet would suffice.

    First Trip To Africa

When I usually go hunting I follow a old rule my Father set down , to stay in range of 1 ton of energy when a bullet hits for a 300 Win Mag allot of rounds can do this out to 500 yards no worries but not suited for overly thick skinned game or heavier PG in Africa, the 9.3x62 with 2 or 3...

Well I have not actually been hunting in some time due to physical limitations I am probably just second guessing myself and will stick with the PH advice on ammo. I would love to take my 30-06 in this hunt but it is a M1 Garand and unless my info is wrong you cant hunt in the RSA with...

    First Trip To Africa

I would happily look into using the TSX for the 300 WM problem is they don't make a cartridge for the 300 WM they only have TTSX the ones you advised against, an I do not reload ammunition. I thought the Woodliegh being a soft tip with a lower velocity would be a ideal round compared to...

I will practice whenever I get the Chance my local range in AZ is some distance but I usually get to it twice a month, but the heat is just about to soar, I will buy some sticks from Cabelas and work on my stand shooting. But I think the little setup you have is pretty cool.

    First Trip To Africa

Well that is if the 9.3x62 is on the table listening to what the PH said he seemed to strongly recommend for me the 300 WM over the 9.3x62. The Average Velocity of the Norma Bodstrike at 100 yard with my 26 inch barrel on the 300 WM I have is Veelocity 3100 Energy 3900 , 200 yards...

So after speaking with the PH , the area is rolling hill sweeping out into open country , dotted open areas with scattered thick bush. Average range on most shots 100 to 200 yards. He said using a Muzzle break is not a problem and glad I notified him early, so at this point knowing I have...

    First Trip To Africa

I can see your point , the 300 WM as I use it does seem to drive holes in things, my normal load I use here in the U.S. is the 180 grain Norma Bondstrike, honestly with the 9.3x62 I might even go old school with round nose ammunition but the Barnes you mentioned works great to :) ...

    First Trip To Africa

I do see the value of the 9.3x62 as well for shooting up to 300 yards and finding a 286 grain from these cartridge companies I was looking at are made by Norma Eco Strike or Kalahari, Nolser Trophy Grade and Barnes. The reason I mentioned the 240 grain 300 WM is I have used that round with...

    First Trip To Africa

Seems I may just go with my 300 WM, Yes it is fitted with a Muzzle Brake , letting the PH know well ahead of time, using a 240 Grain Woodleigh Weldcore JSP Ammunition should be enough for anything I am hunting with a well aimed shot.

Yes that is the price but I wanted something really special, you have only seen a little bit of his stock, I am having a dream rifle put together. Even the person I am having the custom work done took a look at it as was like WOW to , he has more affordable blanks as well.

. I think I can manage the recoil of a 9.3x62 will have a Pacmhyer recoil pad on it see how it handles, from there might consider a Mercury system or just doule up with a Limbsaver over the recoil pad there are options.

I really wish to thank you all for the wonderful advice , looking into the Courtney Boots, I found out that under current laws I would not be able to travel with the suppressor on the 300 Winchester mag outside of the U.S. , but that leaves me with dealing with the recoil and would most...
