Montana Rifle Company Returning in 2023?

It's kind of breaking my heart, but if this rails are a fix part of the Magnum and PH actions too, then I am out... No classic Safari rifle deserves such rails... I even would spend some (even a lot more) extra money for a classic DSB...

    Fountain pen appreciation

Maybe also get in touch with "Diplomat" pens. Very nice writing, made in Germany and not as expensive as Mont Blanc. https://www.diplomat-pen.com/en/ I got two out of the Excellence A+ series and I love them. Also my classic Pelikan M805 Stresemann is a very nice piece of German...

Bullet Choice for Niederwild and Hochwild on the same hunt...

I am hunting Roe and Wildboars mostly with 8x57 or 8x64 using lead free bullets like Barnes TTSX or Hasler. They are working excellent on both species without much damage. Shooting directly on the shoulder... never had any problems. So 30.06 is definitely a good choice, if you are using a...

    Canadian super pigs

Don't wish for such things, they might come true. In the first year there are 15 pigs, then 50, then 150 and then 300 up to 500. That's the moment when hunting pigs is getting really hard work to avoid the damage they definitely will create on all fields and all meadows within their reach...

    Wanted 404 Jeffery Ammo/Components

Sorry for the "maybe stupid question": Is there a specific reason for the shortage? In Europe brass and ammunition is still available, a little bit more expensive than last year, but not that high... Bought 50 Barnes TSX bullets and 20 Hornady brass without any delay and "only" paid approx...

    Some Mauser porn :)

A beautiful rifle... Personally, unfortunately there is only one slot left in my heart for a special kind of Mauser in .375 H&H based on a FZH action with a customised walnut stock... But that's a long way to go from now... and an expensive one

    404 Jeffery builders

There is a factory in Germany which produces .404 brass https://huelsenmanufaktur.de/homepage I ordered some different caliber (but no .404 to be honest), it's a good quality for a fair price. But I don't know if shipping in the US is an option. Maybe just ask them, they are very friendly

    Using Thermal Imaging for Hunting

Well, you are right with your statement. I personally think it's the same issue with any kind of technical inventions - it depends on the person using it. Starting with: Rifles are tools, they usually don't kill on their own will. They are used by somebody to do so... So thermal imaging is...

    Using Thermal Imaging for Hunting

I am using a Pulsar Thermion (the first version of it) since it's legal to do so. But the only usage is for hunting wild boars because of the damage in the fields... nothing else... It's working great for shots up to 200 metres, so I truly can recommend it for this kind of usage. Calibres up...

    8.5x55 Blaser

The 8.5x55 Blaser wouldn't kill anything that a 8x57, a 30.06 or a 8x68 couldn't. But with all the alternatives life is much cheaper and easier in sense of factory ammunition... Personally I would never buy a rifle in this proprietary caliber because of that...

Are Neck Shots Preferred Than Broadside Shot To Prevent The Damage Of The Meat?

Plus one on that... have seen especially wildboars where the shot was in the jaw and/or blinded the animal while searching their tracks with my dog afterwards... And of course all shots from guys who can kill a flying bee at 500m with a single shot out of a cold barrel when asking them... that's...

    404 Jeffery builders

In fact every gunsmith, who learned his profession adequately, should be able to build a rifle in this caliber... Of course there are black sheep, but if quality parts are used (e.g. the right Mauser, GMA, MRC,... actions and a quality barrel brand) a magnificent rifle is born...

    Heym Express Rifle Which Calibre?

In fact that's exactly what I was thinking about before getting my .404. I talked to my smith and ordered the amount of brass and other components that fit my needs over the next 10 to 15 years... that's a period of time which makes me sleep well :)

Your favorite 2 rifle and 1 shot gun combination

Well a 30-06 (which I use in the 8x64S version ) would kill anything a 8.5x63 does... In fact one rifle in >=7mm would be sufficient for everything, but DG. But life would be boring without some toys

    KelTec for hunting

As far as I experienced it: Usually young, rich Hipsters who played to much war video games and think it's cool to look like a special forces member while hunting... Blaser new range of B2 rifle optics launched

A friend of mine is using the 2-12x50 on his R8 and I got the chance to have a look at it. Nice scope within the mid-price range. From my personal perspective it's comparable to Z6 or Kahles. Personally I don't like the combination of a scope and a second thermal option at the same time. But...

404 Jeffery Heym Express By Martini Rifle For Sale

A very beautiful rifle... would be worth the buy, but I already have a .404 :) Therefore I have to contradict regarding a custom .404 - it simply depends on the smith... if you are lucky you can get a .404 for less than half of a Heym. But a Heym is still a Heym, which is definitely worth...

Hi Guys I have been looking several days now to find some proper cleaning equipment for the .404 Jeffery.
