Coordinating suppressor type & thread pitch for multiple countries

Would it be possible to have QD adapters from the suppressor manufacturer you are going to use, shipped to your gunsmith here in the States to be fitted to your barrels? Might have the best chance of good fit and concentricity that way.

    9.3x62 Rifle Build

Will a mag action work for a 9.3x64 ? That would be an interesting classic option.

    9.3x62 Rifle Build

Would work for a 9.5×65.5 tho. (375 Ruger)

    9.3x62 Rifle Build

If you have a trusted gunsmith, how about a 9.3 on an '03 Springfield action. Recreate a G&H or Sedgley Sporter. Lots of history of those in Africa. Dupage has good original actions at a reasonable price. Should take very little, if any work to feed 9.3 perfectly and IIRC they hold 5 down.

Thoughts on Barnes TSX, TTSX, and other solid bullets (Fox Bullets from Slovenia)

Here is a review on Fox .366 dia, 250 gn Classic Hunter bullets. Media was newsprint, but looks like reasonably conducted test. Their other tests seem legitimate. http://hardhittingshootinglab.com/2020/06/05/fox-bullets-classic-hunter-366-250gr-bullet-test/ List of bullets reviewed and others...

Out of spec. 458 Lott chamber causing problems

There are reamers designed to rechamber a Win Mag to Lott which will not cut the belt area deeper. If your smith used a standard Lott chamber reamer he may have cut the chamber a little shallow trying not to cut the belt area deeper and create excess headspace. It is easier to control the reamer...

Ruminating on the idea of building/ buying the wife a safari rifle

Get her a 30-06 similar to Osa's rifle now. Then give her a 9.3x62 version of the same rifle in a year or two. Along with book "I Married Adventure" She will need to hunt Africa again to try the 9.3 out on heavier game. Win, win.

    .458 Win or .448 Lot

The CZ550 Magnum magazine will feed cartridges up to 3.8 inches, if I remember correctly. The Win Mag throat is longer than a Lott throat (lands further from bolt face). You should be able to handload Win Mag brass to Lott OAL and run Lott speeds, I load 450tsx to 3.60" at 2350fps in my 550. Of...

Potentially new dangerous game cartridges coming to market?

How about a 400Ruger? 350 gn at .400. SD would be .313. Harder hit than a 375R. Better velocity and flatter trajectory than .416R. Would need to develope bullets. Fits in existing Ruger rifles. Could use 10mm pistol bullets for plinking. Market as a 10mm Alaskan to handle big bears. Stopping...

Why is the 458 Lott Chambered for .450 Watts?

Fifty thou too long will still allow a case with heavy crimp to chamber relatively easily in the shorter chamber but the case neck will not expand enough to release the bullet. I believe that safety issue is why most Lotts are chambered for 2.850 brass. Beside shorter brass when cases are made...

Mark Sullivan kicked out of SCI

Sullivan may have learned that some are "more equal than others". Bet that certain outfitter will be there next year even after recently being nailed by the US authorities for illegally importing an illegally taken leopard trophy for a client. Having your attorney on the board of SCI seems to...

Scope or no Scope for Elephant hunting

No Africa experience, but I will throw in my two cents about low power scopes. If you shoot a 1x scope with both eyes open, even up close, you see the crosshair superimposed in your field of view like the scope isn't there. Doesn't seem to work as well once the true scope magnification gets...

    .454 bullet selection

Speer 300 grain Uni-core soft point. Haven't used it on game yet, but they have a good reputation and look good in water jug tests.

    Best Calibre

As this post is 4 months old, you have most likely already made a decision. But I am wondering if by "backup" you mean to anchor an animal when bow hunting or as protection from something that may want to stomp you into the dust?

Mark Sullivan kicked out of SCI

I don't agree with Sullivans style of hunting, but wonder if he will be considered the next generations Capstick. Gave one of his video's to a friends son a few Christmas ago and even though we talked about the questionable hunting ethic, he could not stop watching it. Was the first present he...
