That's a fantastic and well-thought-out list covering everything from small game to large, dangerous game. The 9.3x62 is a brilliant and underrated cartridge, offering tremendous power with very manageable recoil. It's hard to argue with classics that have proven themselves so effectively.

Had the chance to fire a 458 Lott in a Ruger No1 with full house 500gn loads. Expected to be slapped silly from all that I've been told and read.
Can honestly say it wasn't that bad. Very tolerable. Didn't even need my big boy pants, the wife's frilly knickers would have been fine

Haha. I have to say I don’t mind shooting my custom Brno 458 Lott, it’s feels no worse than my 416 Rigby and I usually won’t shoot more than 8-10 rounds a session. I’m thinking if I ate some vegemite I could handle even more recoil!

Bob is very tough, my son has a light weight 338 win mag its too much for me off the bench.

I am a Remington fan. We have a 6mm Remington, 300 RUM, and a 416 Remington Magnum.

It depends in where I'm hunting and what I'm hunting for.

NA for deer, pronghorns, elk, etc.: .300 WM, 7mm RM, .30-06

Africa: .300 WM, .30-06, 458 WM

Recently my son built me a custom 340Wby. Presently I am finishing up some load development on it. So far this rifle has shown itself to be a real shooter. It may end up being a favorite some day…..soon
