My first My Father, Le Bijou

Of course as I am writing this, it fell right off my chair. I had ti do a heavy touch up and this may be a wasted smoke at this point

Cold draw showed good promise of wood, earth, and heavy chocolate. I am drawn to rich maduros and infused like Java / tabak so I was hoping it would keep that profile in the smoke even though it's not marketed as such.

A very one dimensional in the first 1/3 --- spicy. Not like black pepper, but rather red pepper and rye. Very smooth though. It actually pairs really well with 10 year Bulliet

Starting into the second third now it is mellowing a bit with a little hay flavor. Could be the heavy touch up though.

I haven't really enjoyed it, more tolerating it. Personal preference; what the hell do I know, it was a #1 ranked afterall

Sorry to hear that! I have found those jewels to be quite tasty start to finish. Was it aged, or did it seem dry? I find them best when properly humidified. If I leave one out a while, it does tend to burn what I would call hot.

Regardless, hope you give it another shot. But if flavor is your game, then might stay that route because a lot of the cigars spoken about in this thread are just good medium to full bodied cigars.

As a newbie, I had some very high humidity problems this summer. It has been between 63-65 for a month. A very cool smoke - likely still wet in the center of the cigar especially when smoked. I've had to touch up the wrapper every 10 minutes but this thing keeps chugging along.

Again, the spicy turned more mellow after 1/3 and is still that way going into the final third. The spicy is starting to come back now. I am done though

I've smoked many Le Bijou's, and never had any problems. Too me, it is an excellent Cigar. The Garcia family always produces quality rolls.
Having to constantly attend to a Cigar, really takes away from the enjoyment of it.
Everyone's taste is different. I would suggest trying one more before you write them off.

So traveled to Knoxville to see my son, Sophomore at UT in engineering, and watch the Vols play on a great Saturday evening. Enjoyed several, OK, maybe more, My Father Promesa, as well as several, OK, maybe more, Partagas Cubans. Other than a great win over the gamecocks, and time with my son, the highlight was to have a bunch of different folks saying how much they enjoyed the smell of my cigars. In this day and age, such a rare experience!

First time. Pretty one/two dimensional - earthy oak with a little spice once about an inch in with tons of smoke (my god, the smoke). I prefer a more sweet maduro but this is one you can afford to buy a 5 pack of and share with no one really complaining. Being a newer social smoker, I probably would not keep this in my rotation (who knows, I have a lot more downstairs to try). By all indications and reviews, it's a fine cigar; at this stage I still prefer the sweeter coffee chocolate notes.

Edit: on reflection, maybe that sounded too harsh.

I've been gone from here, but not for lack of smoking. In the last couple of days, I smoked these two. The Cohiba was great, and since I favor any Nicaraguan cigars, I enjoyed it even more. However, I can't say that about the Diesel. I couldn't get a good draw out of this cigar, and it kept going off. I have an ez draw tool, and that didn't work either. I ended throwing the cigar away. I can't say that I was happy about that.

The CAO Brazilia, is one of my many Fav's, and "Go to" cigars. Smoked many of them since they were introduced in 2002. Smoked 10 of them last month.
It's a matter of finding what the palette likes. One of the issues could be what you are drinking, and if it pairs well with the Cigar. A bad pairing can make a good cigar taste funky. I BBQ alot on weekends, and drink Corona Premiere, as it pairs pretty well with 90% of the brands I smoke.
