Still hostile business practices used diplomatically for no other reason than than to leverage larger market share simply because he has the economic might to make it happen. I true hope the economic uncertainty he is causing and the coming recession cost him the midterms at least then he’ll be a spent force and less able to do damage on the world stage.

What has Congress enabled him to do thus far?

Brother, you have been way too doom and gloom, might be good to step back. We are going to have a recession, we will come out of a recession. We will still be arguing numbers, policies, and their impact.
Way to doom and gloom??
You didn’t see the doom and gloom yet.
Can you also explain why we are having a recession with %4 employment rate and how we will come out of it?

The guy is seriously unhinged, and so far out in left field, it's become quite comical.
The same can be said about Tubby's TDS.

True. Should have let it crash in 2008. We’d have been past it now. W. was more concerned about WMD’s and sharing candy with Michelle Obama though.

I gotta agree. I closed a business in 08 that I started in 04. During that housing boom the business was obscenely profitable. I watched a lot of colleagues blow money on boats, trucks, motor cycles, etc. I played things closer to the vest. When I closed the doors I had quit paying myself a salary, I was merely paying for my health insurance. It hurt to close but at the same time it was as if a weight had been lifted from my shoulders. Nobody bailed me out!!!

I came through the other side smelling like a rose buying and building on infill lots that others had been too ambitious on.
Nobody bailed them out!!

Technically we arent yet. It is coming.

I dont know, but we have a recession with similar unemployment in Q1 and Q2 in 2022.

How we always come out of it, lower interest rates, add liquidity, tax incentives, etc. Can you show me a recession that never ended?

How would a Dem controlled House have changed this scenario up to this point?
Correct me if I’m wrong I’ve done the best I can to educate myself on the American political system but I’m far from a scholar on it. To my understanding if the dems control the house or a bipartisan vote was passed they could easily end the use of the emergencies act which brings the final implementation of tariffs ect. back under control of the house and the house not trump would ultimately decide on their implementation.

I asked why we are having a recession? The one you mentioned was Covid related.
I tell you why, for no reason because of stupidity.
Also you realize every recession adds trillions to national debt right?

It’s my understanding of your system that without the emergency act in place trump can only ratify for a set period of time before the house has to endorse It I believed 90 or 120 days.

You have no idea what’s gonna happen like the administration. You’re just repeating big words like reset to justify the dumbest move in decades. You might be ready to accept pain but this pain might be unbearable for most. You should accept the fact of what is happening right now.

If you reread my post I acknowledged I don't know how this will play out.

I also didn't realize that "reset" was a big word for those that post on the AH political forum. Sorry for making you use the dictionary.

You cite, "this pain might be unbearable for most". The real pain has been felt by the middle class for the past 3-4 decades. What the markets have experienced in the past two days is nothing like the middle class has dealt with for years. If this is a reasonable chance to help rebuild the the middle class, even at the expense of my equities for a few months or a few years that is fine with me. What we have been doing for 80 years was not working. If you have a better solution I am sure Trump would be happy to hear from you.

Trump started to hear from Republican senators today.
I would advise to go and read what Ted Cruz his staunch supporter said.

We arent in a recession yet, so I can't tell you why till we get there.

The 2022 recession was not due to COVID, 2 years and full year after Biden is elected you are blaming COVID. It was rapid inflation with the rapid increase of interest rates.

You also realize that almost every year the national debt has increase regardless if we had a recession or not. Regardless if Republican or Democrat, it is a problem with the way our government is held accountable rather than the economy or some president's policy.

It’s hard to argue with you when you say things like high interest rates and high inflation caused recession.
The reason for high interest rates is to curb inflation because inflation can cause recession when demand slows.

Which brings me back to my question a number of pages ago. What the devil is the intent of his strategy? If he is serious about making tariffs a major revenue source then he can't sit around and make deals and use leverage. If the intent is to make deals, then where does he find the revenue to offset his tax initiatives, other investments, and address the national debt. He can't really do both.

I am sure his unquestioning supporters are nobly prepared to shoulder their share of the burden - at least until they start really looking at their 401K's or get a pink slip - but I am truly afraid this administration's actual strategy seems driven as much by the time of day or the latest Truth Social post as it is a coherent plan. Creating a decade (thus far) level market crash and those inane slides and their explanation do not inspire confidence among more normal voters.

This is indeed likely the last chance the republicans will have to right the economic ship of state. Someone better wake up the crew and find the captain.
I actually took a little time to research trumps business history tonight. He’s bankrupted casinos hotels a football league an airline and a multitude of smaller businesses. One analyst I was reading said he’d of actually been financially better off to invest his inheritance in the funds and do nothing in business than any of the ventures he’s taken. The only thing he was credited for was masterful image manipulation to keep himself relevant. Multiple articles attributed that to reality television.

Its hard to argue with you when you don't realize rapid increase of interest rates can cause a recession because it limits business investment and impact liquidity in the markets. But yes let's go with COVID.
