Would you like a Cigar?

@VertigoBE Thanks, you are a line of good information. Lots of good places recommended there.
I remember a while (a year) ago you mentioned that a classic custom hunting rifle could be built at reasonable cost in Belgium. In the region of €3.5K .
At some stage I may pick your brain about this as although I love Mauser actions I’m a leftie. I’m thinking of a Winchester M70 or Zastava action for a build.

With pleasure, I like showing off beautiful Belgium to tourists. :)

I'm not sure if I ever wrote that, that a custom or semi-custom hunting rifle could be built for 3.5KEUR. Thinking about it now, I would not really know where I would look for this. I can ask around though. Especially the head armourer from Hunting Lodge is a friend, he could get you onto something.

You can find very good and beautiful, sometimes as-new examples of custom rifles for that price point though. For example, just yesterday I posted in the Good Gun Deals thread a fully engraved and restocked 416 Rigby where the donor rifle was a CZ550. Asking 3KEUR. And also another in 7x64 for 3KEUR, fully engraved on a Dumoulin action.

Also 9.3x64r's are going for sometimes very low prices. I know of multiple ones from smaller makers in sxs version that would go for under 5KEUR.

@VertigoBE you'll have to get my up to speed when you visit us. Why did you keep this information from me? :P Detective: :ROFLMAO:

Definitely going to one of these shops next time I visit Brussels.
I need to give you a reason to come back ;)
Next time you come over, no wives or kids, just a day out visiting gun shops ;)

Cain Ligero Maduro tonight. I needed something strong while I cleaned up my garage. Did not disappoint.

Waaa ! But we have found somewhere near le roi du cigare

Had a very enjoyable day in Brussels. We visited La Tête D’or and Le Roi du Cigare. Both nice shops, Le Roi du Cigare held more choice but both were great to visit.
Sadly the Museum of Musical Instruments was not an option for lunch as the restaurant and terrace were closed :cautious:.
However we found a nice place nearby.
The Paradiso was excellent, a superb smoke. The flavour of the Umnum was completely new to my palate, quite unique. I bought a few.
A great city, rich in great architecture. Not my last visit.

Great that you enjoyed my hometown!
I would have loved to be there and show you around, but Berlin needed my presence…

Did you manage a visit to Binet?

Yes ! A charming gentleman. Unfortunately my poor French didn’t lend to a long conversation. You are right, a lot of pricey clothing but some nice BBF’s,drillings and an awesome arrray of pistols and revolvers. Verboten in my part of the world. My eyes were drawn to a 1937 Obendorf Luger I saw. I think it was €1600. It was marked S42 which is the same stamp as a 98k I cut my teeth on deer stalking years ago.
I fired a Luger in the basement pistol range of a gun shop in Riga, Latvia years ago, an experience.

@Mort Hill, when I ran out of stogies in South Africa, I went to 2 Cuban restaurants and cleaned out their humidors.
Next time try Safari Outdoors in Pretoria.
They have a decent amount of Cubans in their humidor.

We only smoke sigar after a successful buffalo hunt; this year made me feel like a chain smoker!

I only smoke a cigar when I think about a buffalo hunt. Why I smoke about 10 cigars a day. Congrats!
Thank you! The more you dream, the better the change for it to happen again!

A long time friend who served with me, and couldn’t make it to my retirement came to visit me, and I treated him to some fine cigars.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
