Women as Professional Hunters; What's with that?

ha ha bha mate I don't know what it is that terrifies you so much , that a woman can be succsessfull of anything .gordo
if a woman cant be a P.H why let them do the schooling ,and apprenticeship .

ive been accussed of being homo phobic.
but your coming across as shielaphobic , mate

if a woman can earn her keep , as anything that us blokes can , good for her

you keep talking but nothing is coming out mate ...........

earlier on you spoke about how she was going to carry out an injured hunter ......how many miles have you carried out an injured hunter , and how often , mate really
the lady that will be my p.h is PATSY HAHN, I have every reason to believe she is a share holder in takerri.
she obviously earned her share , why the bloody hell shouldn't she P.H there , gordo .
FFS shes done her schooling and obviously proven herself ,
half the the population is female , mate , they aren't going to go away
in fact if they wanted to they up set the balance of power near anywhere.
you say that the indigenous peoples of Africa have no respect for them , respect is earned gordo , not demanded

ive said to my self a couple of times now that im done with this thread , but bugger me gordo ,
your chauverism casnt be ignored , mate you crack me up bud ...
im going to play your game ........

Proudly... One of my students has become one of very few fully qualified female PH's in Zimbabwe! At the shooting exams she cleaned up the boys by a serious margin in both rifle and handgun disciplines!
She is smart, resourceful and a great girl to be around...I'd hunt with her anytime! At her full licence practical exams she just quietly did what she had been trained to do ..perfectly! Full licence at the first attempt! With a pass rate of less than 20% that's very good going!
At least I wouldn't have to sit and listen to the egotistical bs and self engrandisement so often found with the macho PH's and the inexperienced ones!!

must be a back breaker course , ole bailey, 20 % pass rate
good on the lass, hope she really makes a names for herself ...
would she qualified to guide dangerous game hunts in Zimbabwe, with this accreditation ?
thanks for sharing this great news ......

Bluey... this isn't a course....this is the Zim Professional Hunters Full Licence Exams! She's now fully qualified to conduct all and any safaris in Zimbabwe, Moz, Cameroon and Tanzania etc without further licencing ... some countries ask our PH's to do local 'conversion exams' mostly to do with local law etc.

oh , the real deal , ole bailey
how long does professional hunters licence take to complete?

That's not possible, if you receive a permit for Zim, it's under law and legalization in Zim and not anywhere else ! On the other hand if you a a fully operating license in Zim you can apply for a license in some other country but there is not any guarantee that you will automatically have it ! Depends on IF a local respected outfitter can recommend you and have the right contacts with the wild life authorities.

Blue what a blast of BS, do not think you know how things is running down here after some short stay, furthermore take a croc with a bow, what is missing in your life "mate" ?

I have been quietly enjoying this thread but you lost me on this one. Care to elaborate?

Yes, people think they know absolutely perfect everything about Africa and African hunting after visit the continent one or two times during some planes game hunting, this is fine and I have no problem with this behavior, but when they think that they know so much more than someone that have giving his whole life for hunting and spend more than 40 years within professional hunting, it's perhaps time to see how ridiculous it's sounds !

gordon according to my wife i am a sexist , chauvenist shit but you take the biscuit !!!! patsy is my partner in takeri and from a fairly young age has built and run photo lodges including running the staff black, colured and white , and i promise you they respected her as she doesnt take shit from anyone. when she and her husband parted ways he bought her out of their photo lodge in the luangwa ( http://wildlifezambia.com/) as you are in zambia and presumably spent time in the luangwa and mfuwe i am surprised you never met her or her exhusband herman ? when she bought into takeri after the split she decided the logical thing to do was get her ph license, so she went off got all the info and papers from PHAZ and brushed up on what she needed to. i presume you have heard of rory gellatly and arthur taylor ? (sarcasm intended) as i know you do or you are talking bullshit about knowing anything about hunters/hunting in zambia!! they helped her with the few things she needed to brush up on for the exam eg with vehicle maintenance, and other things. now they thought she could do it so i wonder why you have a problem with her and others. she passed at her first attempt , and yes at the moment she only has her plainsgame licence, but is assisting on dg hunts to work towards her full licence, as she was in the lungwa from a being fairly young, and had all the animals at close quarters most of the time she knows them. so before you go insulting her anymore, which before you try to deny it you are, wind your neck in as you are starting to piss me off..............................

Regarding Hanh I do not know her Mike, and to Blue I like to inform you that none earned shares connected to property ownership ??? Have you ever heard of "green cash" this is how is you "earned your share" in a property pal !

Furthermore if I piss you off I kindly ask you to read the posts again, I did not speak one personal bad word of this Patsy Hahn, it's not correct to do that because as I said I do not know her and never meet her !!!

not much of a reply........heard of herman, rory, arthur, ? maybe you didnt have to take the PHAZ exam 40 odd years ago? oh and about the vehicle hijacking you would end up on the wrong end of a 9mm . most of the women i know that grew up in zambia, not the new influx from the last few years, are very capable of looking after themselves , running staff, helping in the running of their farms etc, as they needed to be able to due to the state of the country up until fairly recently. do you agree or disagree on that, or dont you think they were/are capable of this and you never noticed?

i have read your posts gordon and they are insulting...... if not directly then in general to her and the other female ph`s whom i presume are very capable , as eg the zim ph exam and the namibian course/exam arent a walk in the park . it doesnt matter whether you have met someone or not when it comes to bad mouthing /insulting that person or people......

You know the more I read this thread the more I remember something that my father told me a long time ago. He said that opinions are like assholes, everybody has one and it's best to just leave everybody else's alone.

Gentleman, I am old school and the latest crop of "Lady" PH's in SA have done nothing to change my mind about hunting with them. One in particular spends more time infront of the camera than behind her bino's or rifle for that matter. There are also some circumstances I believe a man is better equipped to handle than a woman is, strenght is going to play a part someday and there is no getting away from it. Yes, I have carried clients across a river bed and up a few steep hills, I have also carried their rifles backpack and everything else they had with them. Sure a woman can get away with never doing it, she just has to hunt areas that have roads close to everything or have a few more trackers. Great if a woman has the respect of locals, but in many cultures they are bought with cattle and they do not get seen as being a man's equal, not something I made up, its Africa.
Sure there are great female hunters and PH's out there, in 20 years of hunting I just have not come across one I would hunt with instead of man. I don't mind them in the industry if they know their stuff, but way too much " window dressing" going on than is good for the industry at the moment.

Extreme Huntress, go buffalo hunting ending up with disaster !

which bit was bullshit , gordo?

Bluey, goodluck with your croc hunt, sure going to be hard hunt with a bow...bet you going to have a blast..

Gordon, not sure what the point of the video was? Can't blame the client for the PH's fault. We all make honest mistakes. But you can definitely see that the video was edited with reenactments....

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
