Wild Lion Hunt

Wow so sorry! Can you republish the link on what had to be a terrible experience

Oh we don’t want to rehash that on this website.
Let em have it ... might get some people off the politics and tariff topic

I spoke with a Tanzanian PH earlier today who said similar. There is a window in July as well but Dawie would not be available. Food for thought .
If at all possible I’d go early. Late season cat hunts can be tough. The heat ruins baits rapidly, newborn animals make it tougher to get cats on bait, quota may be tight. Early season cat hunts when it’s cooler tend to be better.

They have an earlier slot so have requested it thanks to the great group of experienced hunters here on AH . Had not thought about the heat and easier hunting for the lions later in the season. Opening is July 10 to 31st. Hope to finalize everything tomorrow .

@Rockwall205, no pressure at all. There will be lots of us pulling for you to have a great hunt is all.
Thanks @Fatback just firmed up the July 10 to the 31st dates so everything looks to be a go ! Now just need some luck maybe a lot of luck either way will enjoy the experience.

When are you flying out and what route? I’m landing in Livingston on 7/10 for a hunt as well. Depending on when you leave Texas and what route you take we might be on the name flight

I could be wrong but I seem to remember @FARO EAST NORTH CAMEROON had very good pricing on lion hunts? Due to the fact that genetically they don’t have much of a mane, but you still get the experience

Lots of pertinent information on here regarding lion hunting chaps. Dalt and York are doing a good job in their areas for sure. Good on them.

With any hunt, be sure to do your due diligence, especially with a high dollar item like a lion hunt. There is never a dull moment hunting lion, that I can assure you...
And yes, lion from the Niassa Special Reserve are exportable to the States. That's a function of the great conservation work the operators are doing there for their communities, the vast habitats and their associated wild animal populations.

This is a fantastic male I had the privilege of seeing last year October in my hunting area in Niassa.

Be safe all.

OK so I am a bit confused here...who is the actual outfitter (you name two)...and who is the ph?.....

The area was given back by the previous outfitter, and i believe has only recently been taken over by the new people....what do they know about animal numbers and how the area is?...

Lions are a hot item in zambia and quotas are small....so why the "cheap deal"..?....

You say you are happy to go and shoot a few things and enjoy being in the bush....as day rates are low I think that's a good philosophy to have on this hunt.....

Here is a link to the government site on GMAs so you can compare sizes

It’s a small block with encroachment but great genetics . No history in the last 5 years to sell the hunt for a premium. So I hope to take a beautiful MGM grand lion this year and they can sell it next year for big bucks ! Not sure who the local PH is …

@lhook7 ….what do you think?
Hahaha hell no. There are actually productive threads like this one for everyone. This thread has a lot of good info.
LOL! I agree, this thread has a lot of good information and rehashing the issue would turn it into a dumpster fire!
