Why no love for the .358 Win?

@EVR
Go forth and seek that BLR.
If'n y'all can't find one the next best is a bolt action. Problem is those in 358 are hard to find at reasonable prices.
But all is not lost. There's 1,000s of useless 243s floating around just screaming for a new barrel in a real calibre. A nice 2nd hand Savage 10 and a new screw in barrel ( available at reasonable prices and you can do the job yourself) and you are set to go.
Go forth and rid the world of another 243 it will make you happy.

I know I love my early blr in 358

I see this thread got bumped up from the past. I have recently discovered the 358 win and I’m in the process of building an ar10 chambered for it. Can’t take it to Africa but it will be a nice brush gun for the south eastern US for deer, black bear and hogs.

I have a 35 whelen and a 358 norma magnum. Not sure what a 358 winchester would get me. If the 35 whelen is too much odds are I moving down to a 30-06 or a 308. Just don't see the purpose In my collecttion.

I would recommend moving down to a 35 remington. Great shorter range game killer.

You
Gave me a bad idea and I am thinking of calling my gunsmith to see how bad it will cost
A browning bar 243 re barrel to 358?
Fl is talking of re opening bear season
358 bar carbine with a 2-7 Burris would be about perfect for swamp bear hunting

@Flbt
Or a 20 round M14 re-bored from 308 to 358.
The ultimate hig mob decimator.
