Who is going where in 2018 or hoping to make plans for 2018

Well I am not reading any more of this post. Too many people, having too good a time planning hunting trips

Agreed
Any idea how tough it is to read this as an outfitter
Spend my life organizing and hosting hunts and just not enough time to get some of my own hunts done !!!

I have a big 2018 planned after working my butt off in 2017!

First the Fallow rut and Red deer roar here in South Australia March-April.
Then all of July in Africa with my wife and two teenage daughters. A week's hunting with @KMG Hunting Safaris to kick things off, then three weeks of touring including the Garden Route, Cape Town, Vic Falls and Sun City.
Then in October I head to New Zealand for round 3 with the mighty Bull Tahr.

Good hunting to all and have a great festive season!
Tim

cagkt, first Africa hunt? Oh no someone else is going to be addicted? You’re going to have a great time! Enjoy!
According to my wife, I'm already addicted for how much time I spend on here (although not so much lately thanks to deer hunting and work).

South Africa for the first time in June/July with Thormahlen & Cochran. This will be a family trip with my parents (Jfet and Kfet), wife, and brother and his wife. It will be the wives' fist introduction to the Dark Continent, and will hopefully get them hooked so we can happily continue to return!

You'll have a great trip, I've had my family out with Thormahlen & Cochran twice (So. Africa and Namibia) and had an awesome experience both times!

Its great to see all the upcoming adventures, looking forward to hunt reports and pics!

Headed to Uganda the first half of April for a full bag hunt with Uganda Wildlife Safaris.

I have a Desert Bighorn permit in Mexico so will be headed there sometimes between December and March.

In the middle is my 30th wedding anniversary so whatever she wants - I will agree to! After 3 decades of globetrotting, I cannot say no to anything.

Maybe a mini version of the Grand Tour!!!
I would love that but think the's going to be in for something along the non hunting route like Venice. We'll see how this plays out as we walk around at Dallas Safari Club - she might get the itch for Africa again. The Good Lord willing!

Compared to the Orient Express tour from London or Paris to Venice, most hunting trips to Africa would be a good deal!

I can only imagine, I have not priced those sort of options. Glad she doesnt read AH as this is one ides she would latch onto!

TAKING MY ADULT SON ON HIS FIRST TRIP TO AFRICA IN MARCH. IT IS WELL DESERVED FOR HIM AS WE SHARE A SMALL CONSTRUCTION COMPANY AND WHILE I PLAYED ON ALL MY OTHER TRIPS HE KEPT THE NOSE TO THE STONE AND OUR JOBS RUNNING. OVERNIGHT IN JBERG AND THEN ON TO WINDHOEK WERE WE WILL SPEND 7 DAYS IN NW NAMIBIA ON A FREE RANGE CONCESSION WITH THORMAHLEN & COCHRAN FOR PLAINS GAME. ROAD TRIP! ON TO VIC FALLS WHERE WE HAVE 3 NIGHTS AT "THE KINGDOM" FOR A BIT OF REST, RELAX, SIGHTSEEING & SHOPPING. SHORT DRIVE BACK TO THE CAPRIVI FOR OWN USE JUMBO ON IMPALILA ISLAND WITH THORMAHLEN AGAIN. FLIGHT AND ANOTHER OVERNIGHT IN JBERG AND THEN WE ARE OFF TO THE KALAHARI WITH SEREPA SAFARIS WERE HOPEFULLY I WILL FINALLY GET TO SQUEEZE A TRIGGER! LION FOR ME AND MORE PLAINS GAME FOR LUKE.

I can assure you that compared to the inexpensive hunts I partake in South Africa, they wouldn't let me ride in the baggage car with box lunches!!!

2018 is a transition year for me. After almost 6 years living and working in Lagos, Nigeria, I am transferring to Houston. I contemplated retiring, but will work another year or two or three. I have a deposit down with Bald Mountain Outfitters in Pinedale, Wy and I have 16 preference point for moose. If I do draw, I will likely try to do an antelope hunt also. Will see if I get lucky and draw. If not, will go to Plan B, as soon as I figure out what Plan B is. Maybe an Aoudad hunt in West Texas. My youngest daughter has been bugging me about going back to the eastern cape and doing another PG hunt with @Game 4 Africa Safaris, but that will likely have to wait until 2019.
Glad you are moving back to Texas! Maybe you can come hunt an Axis with me sometime.
Philip

I have nothing booked for 2018 so I may be a bottom feeder at the auctions. I am planning a trip with my youngest son and putting a group together to go to ARU in Namibia in 2019. My youngest will be 13 by then and ready for his first Safari. There is nothing like that first safari experience in Africa and I’d love to share that with others. If anyone would like to hunt with me then send me a PM.
Blessings,
Philip

Have had that same plan B several times!

That sounds like it would be a fun time getting to see a kid take his first Africa game! Never been to Namibia, so that might be a great opportunity!

Philip, that would be awesome! Once I get settle in Houston and see what happens with the Wyoming moose draw (which I think is in May), then I can start making plans. Thanks!

John Ed,

My wife and I did our 30th anniversary in 2016 in Cape Town and no, I didn't have a side trip with a hunt. However, with your Uganda trip, you might consider adding a glamping safari on either before or after your hunt. Quite frankly, the photo safaris we have done (my wife is a non-hunter) have been awesome and you actually see a lot more animals than when you are hunting. You can do some sort of gorilla trekking safari in Uganda or Rwanda. Or go to Kenya or Tanz, the Masai Mara and Serengetti are calling! We've used a Cape Town based travel, Go2Africa.com and they have put us in several camps operated by a company called "&beyond" https://www.andbeyond.com/ and they have been fantastic experiences.

My brother and myself headed to sa in July with game 4 Africa. Our first trip and pretty open bag plains game-take what comes! Excited to see that part of the world and they have been very accommodating with questions rookies ask. I’ll wait to see what the weather does to Wyoming before applying there and really just hoping my two girls get good permits somewhere/anywhere so we can do some “dad” stuff together.

Good Morning x84958
I have read your post about Jamy Traut and your hunt in Caprivi. I am planning such a hunt for 2026, Oct with Jamy.
Just a question , because I will combine Caprivi and Panorama for PG, is the daily rate the same the week long, I mean the one for Caprivi or when in Panorama it will be a PG rate ?
thank you and congrats for your story.
Best regards
Philippe from France

Hello Doug,
I am Philippe from France and plan to go hunting Caprivi in 2026, Oct.
I have read on AH you had some time in Vic Falls after hunting. May I ask you with whom you have planned / organized the Chobe NP tour and the different visits. (with my GF we will have 4 days and 3 nights there)
Thank in advance, I will appreciate your response.
Merci
Philippe
