I'm a big fan of Rye, I have had this Barrel Strength before and happy to find this one again. Never had Michter 10 year and looking forward to trying with friends that like Rye.
My last bottle of Mitchters 10yr. I had three cases, aaaaaand I’ve drank all of them lol
Very good, I highly recommend!

Just bought my first bottle of Penelope wheated bourbon. Looking forward to trying it.
Please let us know what you think of it. I haven't tried any but that distillery has plenty of fans.

Not easy to find around here, would love to find one at a reasonable price. Michter's is very small allocated drops in Ohio. This has to be sad day for you to open the last bottle of that one. My (not equivalent) situation would be Weller Antique 107.

My palate isn't sophisticated enough to pick up all the subtle flavors, but I like it as a sipper. Going to try it in an old fashioned next. I think I like Weller a bit better, but its close, especially since my liquor store hasn't had any Weller for awhile. Give Penelope a try and see what you think.

I usually drink Irish Whisky (right now I have a glass of 12yr Redbreast) or Glenlivet because that's my best friend's favorite. So it usually depends on whose bottle we're drinking out of.

When I go to the deer camp in Mississippi, the selection gets a bit more expansive. But I still hang out on the right side of the middle shelf while ignoring a lot of the bourbon options...

I haven't seen the Peat Monster at a store in Australia (well, not in my neck of the woods just yet) but have heard that it is a lovely drop for the peat-heads, even though a blend and not from Islay (that I know of).

Have you had the opportunity to compare this with the other classic Islay peat "monsters" i.e. Ardbeg 10, Laphroaig 10 & CS and the Port Charlotte 10?

I love the smoky single malts and anything that plays into this spectrum is my jam; other (out of the box) suggestions are very much appreciated.

I am currently enjoying Octomore 14.3 which sits firmly in this camp.

Very, very heavily peated, very smoky. However, to me, it leans towards beech wood smoker, smoked ham, BBQ, bacon notes, plus some gentle oaky / cask notes.

Compared to the harsher 'oak on an open fire / cold oak ash / burnt coffee / ash tray' notes you get in Laphroiag, I find it a lot more complex, and for me, a lot more approachable.

Less of the iodine / salty note as well.

Because the smoke is not such a harsh experience, I get more of the malty / honey / buttery / green apple character, and it's fairly sweet as a result.

A very solid dram, although one I tend to keep for the colder months.

Elements of Islay Br7 is another one I'm enjoying. Still a peated whisky, but much more gentle with it, and the fact that it's blended adds some additional depth and complexity. A lot more apparent sherry cask character (oxidation, raisins, rum, toffee, wine character, fruit cake, dark chocolate) for me.

This second one is low enough on the smokiness that it flexes into a summer option if the mood takes me.

Got this pic today while out of town, two bottles looking forward to enjoying. Having a great brother who's retired has helped my collection yield immeasurable results.

I think these really warranted a child car seat!

I tried the Arberg Ugedail (spelling probably wrong) on the weekend and WOW :E Wow:

Again, haven't seen a bottle in the wild but visited a better stocked bar on the weekend that had it on the top shelf and I almost grabbed the barman by the collar to give me a pour.

Smoke was intense but did not overpower the medley of sherry, sweet and complex flavours that were also present.... highly recommend!!

Good afternoon,

I'm trying to get in contact with Mr Butch Searcy. I have the opportunity to buy one of his rifles chambered in 577 nitro Express however the seller does not have any of the paperwork with the information about what ammunition or bullet weight was used to regulate it. I know he is not making firearms anymore but I wanted to reach out after seeing one of your post about him.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl

Hey Steve, This is Steve Washington we met at KMG last year. I am interested in your Winchester. Would love to speak with you about it. I work third shift and I cannot take a phone with me to work. Let me know a good time to call during one of your mornings. My phone is [redacted]. Live in Florida so I have to account for the time difference.
Look forward to hearing from you.
