Never thought to bring the good stuff back ! DAH ?When in South Africa get by Boplaas cellars in Calitzdorp, they make a couple good ones. This is a Bourbon barrel aged one I brought back to the States. There other is matured in brandy casks I believe. Only so much space in my luggage...
Also Bains Cape Mountain Whisky out of South Africa is pretty good too. View attachment 248977

REALLY wish that was true..my two sons hated my peaty stuff but got stuck INTO my other singles like pigs and strawberries. Over time, they are now STUCK on my Lagavulins too!!!Yeah that's fair enough, I don't think peat is something you acquire a taste for either seems to be either you like it or hate it.
For what it's worth my favorite islay whisky is ardbeg 10 probably the most approachable of them too.
That's Canadian Rye Whiskey! I wouldn't even put it in the same cabinet as my Scotch. This bottle is getting better as i work through it, if you see the things surrounding the bottle in the pic you'll notice my need for a relaxing whiskey tonight!View attachment 249660
While it is a Canadian, it has no rye. Personally I see nothing wrong with either on occasion if it's made well. That's Canadian Rye Whiskey! I wouldn't even put it in the same cabinet as my Scotch.
If it's not made from rye then what is it made from? While it is a Canadian, it has no rye. Personally I see nothing wrong with either on occasion if it's made well.
From what I got from a couple sites it's mostly corn. So corn and barley since you need the malted barley to break down the corn starches as I recall. Reviews show some folks like it and some don't.If it's not made from rye then what is it made from?
Well being a Canadian that makes it worse. Canadian whiskey is made from rye. Now somebody is trying to pass soured corn off as Canadian. What an insult. From what I got from a couple sites it's mostly corn. So corn and barley since you need the malted barley to break down the corn starches as I recall. Actually Canadian whiskey is just a whiskey made in Canada. Usually they are blends with corn typically being the predominant grain and the amount of rye can vary if it has it at all. So, JP Wiser didn't lie at all. From how adamantly negative you are concerning this I'm pretty certain none of this will sway your opinion. Just like I'm not a fan of Islay Scotch for it's often overbearing peat IMO. To each their own.Well being a Canadian that makes it worse. Canadian whiskey is made from rye.
