Where to move to?

I lived in Australia for 3 years. The people of Western Australia are currently fighting a battle and are losing their rights to firearms ownership. This will not get any better.

Australia was amazing until the 1990's. The left has ruined it, and they don't have an established system to make it better.

Saying that because of uncheck islamimigration into the UK, it is still 1000% better than the UK, but only because Australia is fairly empty and big.

Never went to New Zealand, they had the most restrictive crack downs during Covid on the planet. They had a really bad knee jerk reaction to a guy killing a bunch of Islamics in their mosque with AR-15 type rifles. The left also trying to ruin NZ.

The left has ruined Canada, and progressive Asian immigration will eventually dump it in the tank.

The left tried very hard to ruin America, and like

Namibia and Botswana are challenging. The day to day life in Southern Africa can be very dangerous. the African governments are not a fan of whites. South Africa is probably a lost cause. Namibia, Zambia and Botswana are great, but will they be great when the next government decides to kill all the whites and take their bank accounts.

I met a Rhodesian guy yesterday that had just immigrated from the UK to Germany with his Lithuanian wife. She of course has EU citizenship. Germany is not on a course correction to be great until the AFD has enough votes to make a government. I live here, I will continue to live here for a while. It's not horrible, but I don't know that it will figure itself out.

The problem is that most of mainland Europe is also suffering the same immigration mistakes, Sweden, France, Ireland, Denmark and the UK are still the most screwed up.

Missouri is one of the largest cattle producing states in the US. Also a lot of work available for land appraisers if you can get certified. When my family ran cattle, we ran one cow for every 3 acres we owned. We got out of the cow business (we’re all lawyers actually and ran out of time) and now lease our land to a farmer for corn and soybean rotation.

Aside from the urban centers of KC, St. Louis, Jefferson City, and Columbia, every other county in Missouri is RED. Not too long ago, one of our state legislators introduced a bill that would prohibit Missouri law enforcement from enforcing federal gun laws. He introduced it twice.

There are many midwestern stayes that are very similar. If you move to US, avoid the coasts and the northern blue states (no offense to anyone here :) )

Sorry to hear that the Woke govt in the UK has declared farmers to be an enemy. I hope that there is a return to more traditional values, but it won't happen soon.....if at all. I think your plan to leave is a good one..........go while you're young enough for a restart..................good luck............FWB

Also, if you are an appraiser. I did have a client once who was an appraiser from Canada. Her and her husband emigrated to our area 15-20 years ago. I don’t know what process she went through for certification, but she was a licensed real estate appraiser in Missouri.

Lot is work for that now for the banks with our booming real estate market. (May have quieted down now) but our local bank was waiting 30-60 for real estate appraisals for farm and home loans.

I would be grateful for any suggestions.
I would like to offer Croatia. Friendly gun laws (For European standard - definition, no limit on quantity of guns to own, besides bolt actions, you can buy semiauto ar15 or pistols, etc... these are good gun laws for European standard of gun hate frenzy), and 12 months per year of hunting season. Mediterranean climate, or continental climate depending where you settle down.

But if you are looking to African or other continents of southern hemisphere:
Take a good look to Namibia!
My PH's family sold their farm in Austria (40 years ago), moved to Namibia, and bought hunting adn cattle farm there. They never regretted it.

Maybe, Americans are naive to many things that that the rest of the world is aware of.

Here, we still have a few "States Rights", where the federal government CAN NOT override State rights.

All 50 States in the U.S. have the ability to establish there own laws regarding income taxes and restrictions on the ownership of firearms.

I'm just "guessing", now on income tax, but I think that the following have NO state income tax:

Alaska (Limited farming because of climate) - oil makes up for no income tax
Florida - expensive land, tourism makes up for no income tax
Tennessee - probably the least expensive land and and moderate climate - IDK what makes up for no income tax (maybe tourism???)
Wyoming (Limited farming because of climate) - oil makes up for no income tax
Nevada - Limited farming - gambling makes up for no income taxes
South Dakota - probably oil
Washington - I have no idea. Maybe oil, maybe, tourism...
South Dakota, especially the Black Hills area, is nice. The Black Hills area has mild weather compared to the rest of the region. However, the property taxes and sales taxes are high in SD due to no income tax. Probably not high compared to Europe, however.

I also live in the north of England and am equally frustrated by the current UK government and it's tax etc policies, we have half considered moving overseas over the years.

My kids have left home, 20 years ago we moved to an area with a state grammar school as we couldn't afford private education.

Given the kids are in the UK we'd probably go no further than Europe and Portugal, Spain and France would be on the potential list.

I lived in New South Wales in the mid 90s and loved it. I think there is more opportunities in Oz if you are prepared to graft. I found NZ too wet when I visited!

Like you, if I was single I'd move to Southern Africa but safety and work wise it's probably not viable for a family really unless you can afford Botswana or Tanzania and even then it's tough work wise.

Some have suggested US but visas are very difficult to obtain.

If European countries don't start making some changes, the next mass migration will be out of Europe.

I believe Tennessee and South Dakota mostly make up for no State Income tax by staying out of people's business. In other words less services. Then there is sales and at lease in south Dakota, use tax. The sales tax in SD is really no higher than many other places.... but it is charged on more things. Both great States;)

the state lottery pays for quite a bit in TN (education, etc).. and TN has a particularly high sales tax that makes up for much of what isn't collected through an income tax.. (I lived in West TN for 30 years, and East TN for 10 years at different times... its a wonderful state for a number of reasons.. but isn't really the tax haven a lot of people think it is if you are a heavy consumer due to the sales tax)..

I advise against moving to the US, for one reason: the weather.

Compared to Britain, our weather is like a hormonal teenager raging against the machine and setting cars on fire for funsies. Tennessee and Kentucky have doubly hormonal weather. We get tornado ice floods with hailstorm sprinkles…in June. Never mind January-April.

Precipitation I received in one week during the snow flood this past February (local rivers were up 47ft).

Edit: I got 6” of snow two days after this picture was taken. We had landslides and multiple bridges out.

To the OP, contrary to what the news might imply, the US is very friendly to new immigrants who are willing to enter our country legally and who want to stay and become Americans. Some of the states are more rural (most of them) and tax rates vary but even those with the highest taxes will still seem to be a discount to what you are paying now. I have a friend who vowed to leave the liberal New England states for something with more opportunity, freedom and opportunity. He wanted rural, conservative and Southern. He ended up in Arkansas. If I were starting over, I would look at Wyoming, New Mexico and perhaps a few others. Probably easier to immigrate to another British Commonwealth nation but those all come with some of the same issues and are on similar political paths. I too love Africa but its future is murky and Whites are the distinct minority there.

Sheep, cattle and arable. My other work is bank and tax valuations and landlord / tenant work.
Sheep to me at least seem quite specialized in the US. Cattle are much more widespread. Of course very capital heavy investment. Especially now with cattle prices what they are.

It seems to me that appraisal work, especially agricultural, is also very specialized so a great field of work if you can get into it. As an example, our Kansas properties usually get bank appraisal work done by a company out of Texas on RE and a guy from Wisconsin on chattel (cattle, machinery, feed). In South Dakota and Minnesota RE appraisals are done by people out of Iowa or Minnesota and the Chattel by the same guy out of WI. And by the way, the Wisconsin guy is a retired guy doing that as a retirement job.

What is landlord/tenant work?

If you are moving a substantial amount of Capital, how to do that at the lowest net cost may be your most important factor to consider.... Is there an advantage to staying within Commonwealth countries?

As for the US, if you qualify for an EB-5 Visa it should be very easy to immigrate here. South Dakota has policies in place to encourage investment there by immigrants. If you need help or contacts for that level of investment, or much higher, Private message me and I can give you contacts.

I wish weather is my main worry, in finding a good place to build a future for my children.

My friends in France are leaving. One already took his family and left.

NZ or Auz or indeed Russia - plenty of farming opportunities there esp if you have capital - a lot of RSA farmers moved there a few years ago -

Also Eastern Europe Hungary or Czech / Slovakia are decent

Aside from geographical considerations, you need to understand the contours of taxation. I hate to be the one to raise the dreaded subject, but a friend from the UK who lives in the States (university professor) has an incredibly complicated tax life due to his move. The US aggressively taxes foreigners/non residents, and the situation becomes even more complicated because he owns property/investments in England. I am not a tax advisor. I'm just sharing some information from my friend, who is one of my key hunting buddies. You might want to run this by your accountant and any other financial advisors just to be sure you fully understand how such a move would impact you.

The Fort Collins, CO area is great. Mountains are just outside of town; weather is mild; good fishing and hunting very close; college town with a younger vibe; easy access to Wyoming; Denver airport not too far away; can go to Denver for professional sports and it’s a very clean small city with virtually no crime. The only problem is the liberal trajectory of the state politics but probably still would seem quite conservative compared to Europe. If you’re willing to vote Republican, you’re welcome here.
