What is your go to 375h&h load and what do you use it on?

I don’t reload.

Barnes 300 grain TSX loaded by Barnes. Used on everything above 150 lbs except for Elephant. For that it would be Woodleigh 300 grain Hydros if I ever have the opportunity.

IN THE PAST
A) Remington 300Gr round nosed steel jacketed F.M.J solids (for elephant, hippo on land & follow up shots on Cape buffalo)
B) R.W.S T.U.G 300Gr soft points (for everything else, as well as for the first shot on Cape buffalo)
NOTE: Both of these are discontinued.

CURRENTLY MANUFACTURED PREFERENCES
A) Norma 300Gr flat nosed monolithic solids (for elephant, hippo on land & the tiny 10)
B) Federal 300Gr Trophy Bonded Bear Claw soft points (for Cape buffalo, hippo in water & all plains game)
C) Nosler 300Gr Partition (for lion & leopard)

Miscellaneous
I have taken one hippo on land (my most recent one in 2022) with the Barnes T.S.X 300Gr factory load, and while I was perfectly satisfied with the one shot kill performance… I’m not qualified enough to pass comment on them yet.

I have also taken one lion with Federal 300Gr Cup & Core Jacketed soft points. It worked very well (especially considering that this is a non-bonded projectile), but I still feel that Nosler Partitions are the answer for the big cats.

Yeah, the good old .375 Holland & Holland Magnum is one caliber that will never leave you unhappy.

Currently, 300gr Swift A-Frame. Federal's Cape Shock loading is a 1/2 MOA in my Blaser R8. It's a .375 - I use it on everything in Africa.

I have also had complete success with the 300gr TSX loaded by Hendershot. It is a MOA load in the R8 and the Blaser S2 (MOA each barrel, 2.5" composite group at 100 yards)

300gr Barnes TSX over 66gn IMR 4064... for use on anything from impala to cape buffalo..

76gr of IMR4350 behind a 300gr North Fork bonded core. Alternatively a bit more powder and a 300gr A-Frame. Use on anything requiring a soft.

300 grain Swift A frames and 300 Grain Woodleigh Hydro have near same point of impact in my 375 H and H. Cape buffalo, eland, Sable, impala, Damara Dik Dik (perhaps a little too much for the later)..

As this is what my double is regulated for, so no choice about it: Norma PH 350grain FMJ and RNSN.

375 HH, ---Woodleigh 350gr PP, RNSP, Solids,--North Fork 350gr FNS, CPS, Spitzer, on top of 71gr H414, CCI 250 Primers. 2280 FPS all shoot same POI, its amazing----KILLS Everything.

Hornady DGX bonded, 300 grain, because that is what I could get.
Sorry, didn't reply to the question of what it has taken. This Ruger No1 in my hands, the previous owner and the current one has taken an eland, three buffalo, two zebra, a warthog, about eight impala and a sable.

340gr bullets expanding and solid ....everything....
Barnes 235grTSX with 66gr of 4064 for pg. Barnes 350grTSX with 58gr of 4064 for dg. in a Win 70 Safari Express. One shot kills on everything except eland. He took 2.

300gn Nosler partition on Aussie water buffalo, pigs, donkeys & a dingo
250gn Barnes X (original 1990s era pre the TSX) on African planes game from Impala to Zebra. I left my ammo with my PH and a while later an Australia guy I met in camp called me to tell me he use my left over ammo to hunt and kill Cape buffalo with the same PH.
270gn Speer on deer in Australia. This is my main stalking ammo at the moment.

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
