What is the purpose of carrying a knife out in a safari..

I bet that dull knife was just perfect for stripping wire while being just sharp enough to open feed/seed bags and cut twine.
You must have missed the capital letters on VERY dull. His knife will poke a hole in the feed sack so he can start the tear. I’ve seen cut No.9 wire with it by smacking a hammer on the backside of it against the planter frame.
The only sharp knife he’s ever owned, is a new one.
Somehow I turned out different. One blade of my case is the dull knife you just described. My buck is always sharp enough to shave arm hair.

Mine was just the opposite, father was a part time butcher along with farming logging commercial fishing and driving truck. He even wanted his butter knives to have a specific edge to them.

Ontario - is carrying a Leatherman = “tough Guy”? Maybe only in Canada…surprised because you’ve actually got some “tuff guys” (hockey players with No teeth). Never carry cash? - bad idea, try those credit cards when you’re looking for a favor somewhere away from home —$$ “talks”. Always carry cash - and if Not - a knife, then you can “rob some cash” (kidding, there’s No crime or violence in Canada).
E-transfers will take care of any emergency tipping I might need to make on this continent. Even little kids have phones and email accounts. A cash machine is never far if there's an emergency that can't be handled electronically. Some folks feel a need to pull big rolls of bills out to impress everyone (e.g. my asshole former father-in-law). That's never been me. I've found more creative ways to be overbearing.

The biggest problem with carrying cash now is even our Canadian "paper money" is plastic. Jeezus is that stuff slippery! In the last half dozen years I know I've lost more than a couple hundred bucks in paper money slipped out of my pockets. Cell phone is the worst culprit. It's always grabbing bills.

If I think so little of a person that I feel the need for monatary compensation to offer assistance and you are in an area where your options are limited enough so that you have to accept my condition of compensation. One it’s definitely going to be in a area with little or no digital/cellular coverage and two I would be unlikely to take your word that you are willing and able to make good on your offer once back to civilization.

You’re insufferable

The "Ignore" button is your friend. So far, I haven't had to read the replies of two of our illustrious know it all/resident experts on "pick a topic". YMMV.

You can learn somthing from anyone , I found his posts about wall ten camping and horse packing informative if crude. Could have done without his instructions on how to defecate on a paper plate tho.

@Ontario Hunter did you not mention your occupation was in education before your retirement? I would hazard a guess that if that is true you were left alone for many years to run your classroom as your own private fiefdom.

You might consider the fact that no matter our backgrounds we hear are all self made men and not a class of students whom you’re addressing. If we converse from a position of equals and allow are selves to consider the value of each other’s opinions without simply dismissing them out of hand I’m sure all of us as a community will grow from the experience.

"on how to dedicate on a paper plate"? I guess I missed that. I'm afraid to ask what that means? Did you mean "defecate"? That would be worse than dedicate. LOL

The ignore button gets suggested too often. The whole point of a forum is too learn something or educate others. If you just ignore BS or hide yourself from what you don’t like it never gets corrected for others. There are a few I think are beyond help though including one commenting on this thread.

Assuming your mount is an '03A3, M98K, L-E No4 Mk1, and not an M16 platform!
Oh no, my formerly owned Mosin Nagant 91s and M44 had bayonets. Re barrel them to .416 Taylor and should have an adequate buffalo rifle with no need for a "knife through the eye" of a charging buffalo cause you'd have the bayonet. LOL

Apologies, I forgot the Moisin 91/30. With a bayonet the maximum effective range is 2 meters! Had several at one time. As opposed the max effective range of an alibi is 1 meter!

I once heard a mosin nagant described as a pike with the added bonus of throwing bullets. Seems a fitting description.
