I will own one at some point. If it will push the 150 gr pills at 3300 fps as advertised it will be a hammer. There is a decent selection of hunting bullets in 150 gr not much in the way of match bullets though. Always liked the .270 so if I can get a big brother to it and shoot the same pills that would be awesome. And give me a little more gas than the 7 mag.

The 27 Nosler sounds like a great round, but I think I'll just hold onto my beater 270 Weatherby I bought for $800 and call it good. I hit the scuba tank hanging from a chain at 845 yards five times in a row with it. I did wait a minute between shots because of it's skinny 26" barrel though.

I would be interested in a 36 Nosler lol. I actually think they already patented the 36 nos it’s just never been released. As far as the 27 goes it’s specs look awesome, but honestly the old 270 win would cover all my hunting.

270 Nosler or WSM compared to the 270 Win or 270 Weatherby?

7mm We have the 7mm Mauser and 7mm Rem Mag

300 RUMs etc Better than a 30-06, 300 Win or Weatherby Magnum

338's 338 Win Magnum still looks pretty damn good

375 375 H&H and 375 Weatherby still pretty awesome

416, 423 Rigby, Rem Mag and 404 Jeffery

458 I guess this is the exception that proves the rule, 458 Lott and 450 Rigby are an improvemnt

500s 500 NE, 500 Jeffery, 505 Gibbs

My 270wsm shoots the 160 nosler partitions at 3245fps. Kills just fine. Marketing is a great thing. Gets everyone excited in a positive way.

The Nosler cartridges are all decent in SAAMI form in a standard length action, but most of the craze behind them has been the custom chamberings in magnum length actions with long throats for heavy for caliber high BC bullets...mainly Berger's. The .277 caliber has long suffered from a lack of bullet selection compared to others and I think just now Berger has introduced the 170gr 0.277 bullets. COVID and the subsequent component hoarding led to most manufacturers prioritizing high demand components and 27 cal was likely further down the list.

I do own a longer throated 33 Nosler and with 250gr bullets on top of H4831SC it is one of the most consistently accurate rifles I own. Probably not much different than 338 Win or 340 WBY but its beltless and I wanted something a little different.

But going even one step more, there is only so much ”impulse spending” on the next cartridge that exists in the industry. Every year somebody has to buy the next great thing, usually in a cheap plastic gun. We already have the 270 win. If you don’t like that, you have the 270 Weatherby. After that, there is a long line of failed 270s that were the next great thing that end in WSM, WSSM, SAUM, and other lingo.

Nosler picked a terrible time to launch a new 270 because everybody and their brother that wants to buy more nonsensical 270s is rushing to get the new military caliber 277 Fury that SIG invented. You can only have so many failing obscure rounds gush on the market at a single time. For every 25 new calibers that hit the SHOT show, *maybe* one of them has any market share at all twenty years later.
